A poem to My Dad

A love that remains

By Favour Adetoro Published about a year ago 1 min read

Four years without you, Dad, by my side

A painful track, but God's love abides

The Father to the fatherless, He came through

Helping me heal, though the wound remains true

I recall the nights and days of years gone by

The feeling that you'd traveled, but never said goodbye

When you spoke of joining your father above

I thought it a joke, a distant, impossible love

The news of your passing, a dream I couldn't shake

My head on the floor, my heart about to break

What a journey this has been, through tears and pain

Yet, your legacy lives on, a love that remains

Thank you for the spiritual path you showed me

For calling me a woman of prayer, a identity

I miss our midnight talks, the laughter and the tears

But even in death, your memory dispels my fears

Your baby girl is grown now, with achievements to share

I hope you're proud of me and know that I care

If only for a second, I wish I could see your face

But even in heaven, our bond remains, a love that time won't erase.

May his soul keep resting and maybe you continue to grow in wisdom and knowledge.. keep making him proud of you because he's watching you from above.
