Life threatening condition cause by high blood sugar level.

Or Its basically a insulin deficiency leads to increase hepatic glucose production and reduce glucose uptake in peripheral tissue leading to hyperglycemia

Causes Of Diabetic Ketoacidosis:

  1. Lack Of Insulin (hormone produced by pancreas to help our body to produce glucose)
  2. Without Insulin body begins to breakdown fat to get energy it needs a process that ultimately result in buildup of ketones acids
  3. Acid build up may cause swelling in brain and shock which can relate to coma condition

Symptoms:

  1. Vomiting
  2. Excessive Thirst
  3. Dehydration
  4. Frequent Urination
  5. Rapid Breathing
  6. Fruity Smell
  7. Stomach Pain/ Nausea
  8. Drowsiness
  9. Weight Loss
  10. Increased Heart Rate

Infections:

  1. Pneumonia
  2. Sepsis
  3. Urinary Tract Infections
  4. Diagnosis by these test:
  5. Blood glucose 300-500 mg/dl increase
  6. Produce Ketone Positive
  7. Anion gap increase
  8. Sodium decrease
  9. PH less than 7.3 or decrease
  10. Total Carbondioxide decrease
  11. Potassium increase
  12. Bicarbonate 3 < 15 meq/l decrease

Drugs:

Antipsychotic agents Clozapine (Clozaril),Olanzapine (Zyprexa), Resperidone
