Review

Hands down one of my favorite reads of the year!

I didn't expect to like it so much, especially because it's been actively marketed as a romantasy — but the romance turned out to be so so good and not thrown into the readers' faces, unlike many others I've read. It's a long book, but it didn't feel like it at all, and I love how it took the time to really develop the characters.

This was also one of the best portrayals I've ever seen of an anxiety-ridden protagonist. Her being bi was likewise just so casually dealt with. It was nice.

And the worldbuilding was fantastic. What unique and fascinating creatures! Who knew a zoo — and working in one — could be super interesting?
