Advice is BIASED

Listen to Your HEART

By Astone ZuluPublished 10 months ago 1 min read

Advice is never just words it’s a reflection of the giver’s experiences, fears, and hopes. It carries their successes, their regrets, their wounds. When people speak, they are not telling you what you should do they are telling you what they did, what they wish they had done, or what they wish they hadn’t.

The one who lost something precious will tell you to hold on tighter. The one who suffered from holding on too long will tell you to let go. The risk-taker will say, jump, take the chance you only live once! The cautious will say, wait, think it through you don’t want to regret this. The heartbroken will warn you to guard your heart, to love carefully, to protect yourself from pain. The hopeless romantic will tell you to love without fear, to chase grand gestures, to believe that love conquers all.

They say, "If you love someone, fight for them." But they also say, "If you love someone, let them go.

So which is right?

Every piece of advice is shaped by someone's past, by their own joys and sufferings. But your story is not theirs. Your circumstances are not the same.

And yet, people rarely acknowledge their bias when giving advice. They speak as if their truth is the truth, as if their path should be yours. But there is no single right answer that fits every life, every moment, every heart.

This is why advice will always be biased because it comes from a place of personal truth, not universal truth.

So listen, but don’t follow blindly. Consider, but don’t let it dictate your choices. Take what aligns with your heart and discard what doesn’t. Because in the end, the best advice is the one that leads you to peace, even if it goes against everything the world tells you.
