“A Game of Fate: Hades Finally Gets His Side of the Story”

Dark, seductive and mythologically twisted – Scarlett St. Clair delivers a modern underworld romance from Hades’ POV.

If you’ve ever wondered what Hades was really thinking while Persephone was trying to figure out her powers, you’re in for a treat. A Game of Fate by Scarlett St. Clair is the companion novel to A Touch of Darkness, but this time we’re deep in the mind of the God of the Underworld himself.

This book is not just a retelling – it’s a dive into the divine. Hades is powerful, broody, and surprisingly respectful, even as he’s ruling the dead and navigating divine politics. His love for Persephone is intense, raw, and yes – a little obsessive, but in that addictive dark romance way we secretly love.

We also get more of the behind-the-scenes drama with gods like Hermes, Hecate, and Aphrodite. There’s tension, power struggles, and hot scenes, but also vulnerability and inner conflict. Honestly, it makes Hades more human than god sometimes.

What I loved:

• Hades’ POV feels more mature and complex than Persephone’s in the original.

• The mythological world-building is rich, but modern and readable.

• Scenes that felt rushed in A Touch of Darkness get real depth here.

What didn’t work for me:

• Some dialogue felt repetitive if you’ve read the original.

• At times, Persephone still feels a little underdeveloped – even from Hades’ view.

Final Rating: 8.5/10

A must-read for dark romance lovers and mythology nerds. Even if you weren’t obsessed with Persephone before, Hades might just seduce you.
