Do you prefer movies over reading books?

Without question, most people prefer watching movies to reading books because they engage audiences both visually and aurally.

And to be perfectly honest, books are way more interesting.

My reading journey started four years ago. When I visited the bookstore to buy my college books, I accidentally ran across a fictional section, and my attention went to one book named " Detective Stories by Sherlock Holmes". I took that book without deliberation.

I had no idea that reading one book could radically alter my attitude toward reading books.

Since then, I have read various genre books by different authors, and each ought to be best in one way or another.

Besides, my collection of books started going up.

When someone suggests me to watch a movie, I may question them, Is that movie adapted from the book? If so, I can grab a book of that movie.

The one thing I realized while reading books is that they are far superior to movies.

Here are three reasons why books are better than movies.

1. Books allow you to absorb the narrative at your own pace.

Every person has a different perspective on the same situation. Thus, each person's experience may be different.

In the first place, the movies portray a specific perspective based on the director's screenplay.

But, if you're reading the book, you will use your imagination to create an experience of the characters portrayed at your own pace. And also, A fictitious person is capable of extensive travel.

Each time I read a book, I enter a new world. And I use my imagination to time travel to the places depicted in novels.

Now, It's time to use your imagination, right? You can grab any books like thrillers, mystery novels, psychology, self-help books, romance books, and more.

2. Books don't try to fit into a two-hour time frame.

In general, movies last between 2 and 3 hours. There may be a series of them as well.

Books are profound.

Books are such that you may visualize the entire scene in your imagination. That includes character description, personality, surroundings' environmental elements, and so on.

Books take time to complete, but it is worth the time.

You can re-visit your favorite books and get their essence each time.

3. Books develop vocabulary.

One of the most faceted reasons for reading books - to improve vocabulary. Surely!

You can't memorize difficult words daily without understanding their usage.

That's when reading books comes in handy, yielding innumerable advanced words besides helping you know their usage in any situation.

Fiction books deliver more slang and local phrases. And classics use more sophisticated sentence structures.

One piece of advice:

While reading, a difficult word pops up, and you don't want to revert your flow.

In that case, Mark the word with a pencil or highlighter, so you can come back without forgetting. Later, Grab a dictionary or any online source to know the meaning.

It won't matter what book you choose, it will level up your vocabulary.

Improving vocabulary is not about words but about the artistic ways expressed through the language.

Last talk:

Ultimately, I'm not suggesting you stop watching movies and only read books. A BIG NO.

Sometimes, I prefer watching movies over books. I feel it's not a bad thing to do for a reader like me.

Nonetheless, I intended to give out the possible benefits of reading books. And, tell you how books can turn into your friend as well a teacher.

Reading as a hobby can make you climb greater heights in life. You may not know how reading can change your life in the meantime.

You're missing out on an opportunity by not reading any books.

The next step is to visit your nearest bookstore and buy the book of your wish. And start reading to join the book lovers club.

Let's not forget books in this digital age.
