How I Finally Became a Natural Redhead
Okay, I know what you're thinking: You can't just become a natural redhead if you weren't already born one. And while that's mostly true (I say mostly because my little brother who has strawberry blond hair recently developed a full-on ginger beard), I promise, my red hair is all natural.

How to Grow a Great Mane of Hair
When I was born I had thick black hair and gray eyes. As the years went by, my hair turned dark brown as did my eyes, and when I stood outside it looked like I had red hair. Of course, that wasn't enough for me, I wanted to be a blonde. My mother let me dye my hair when I was in my teens, but she would only let me use browns or black, no blonde.

After All, My Gray Hair Can Be Stopped!
I watched my father's hair closely when I shaved him. The gray was all on his head. So I wondered: So what exactly brings about gray hair. Men are mostly gray, but we forget that women are also gray. While some women proudly wear long silvery, thick hair, many others face the arrival of new gray hair in dread.

The Transition Period
Transitioning from relaxed to natural hair is simply the process by which a person goes from a chemically altered or a relaxed hair texture, often straight, to the hair texture that they were born with, often called kinky in reference to hair that is not. The experience can be a scary one, especially if you are not familiar with your hair’s natural texture. To transition is just what it sounds like, to change. Rock Your Crown. Top Story - June 2019.
African American women have always taken pride in their crown, which is our hair. According to the website Hype Hair, which promotes the latest hair trends for women of color, states that black women "spend nearly nine times more than our non-Black counterparts on ethnic hair and beauty products. Add in $473 million in total hair care, $127 million grooming aids and $465 million in skin care preparations, and we spend a whopping $1.1 billion on beauty annually." Other beauty brands are taking notice and are creating products specifically for women of color. The hot comb created by Annie Malone and later improved my Madame CJ Walker, African America's first self-made millionaire, is a staple in women of color's homes for centuries and decades. The hot comb is equivalent to a man's shave kit. It's one of the many stages that reflect womanhood. It's a comb that lays flat on top of the stove, and it heats up and combs through your hair to straighten. It was the go-to product before the flatiron existed.
