Chemicals can cause vitiligo and also make it worse
Patients with vitiligo frequently ask me why they have the condition. Patients often imply multiple things by this question, as I mentioned in a previous post here. "What causes vitiligo?" is probably the most exact interpretation. While the answer to this question is complex, the short version is "many things." We know, for example, that genes acquired from your parents have a significant impact on the likelihood of getting vitiligo. This is because it's more common in persons who have vitiligo or associated autoimmune illnesses in their families. I'll write a separate blog article about what we've learned recently about the genetics of vitiligo because it's a fascinating issue.

2021 Trends: Minimalist Skin Care + Beauty
In 2021 I see minimalist skin care and beauty routines as a leading trend. We are moving away from excessive products and 12-step skin routines and into a “less is more” approach. Consumers are understanding environmental impact, the risk of cheap toxic ingredients, and overall wanting to cut down on overwhelming products, and expenses. Also, COVID-19, has made it more difficult to shop, get treatments - so an at-home D.I.Y. approach seems to be necessary.

HOW TO MAKE A GLYCERIN TINCTURE
There are many ways to use herbs as medicine or for beauty - tinctures, whole plant matter, a poultice, tea, infusion, decoctions, etc. One of my favorite ways to use plants is making a shelf stable tincture. This way, you can add your remedy to many mediums, or even take on it's own.

Beauty DIY: Ultra-Moisturizing Lip Tint
Those who know me well know that I'm a skincare and lip product fanatic. I started my skincare routine around 12 or 13 years old -- my first skincare product was around 6 actually, my grandma bought me a toy to play with and it actually has skincare inside. My first lip product was a Nivea Lipbalm when I was around 7 or 8 years old. My first actual colour lip product was a Cover Girl Lip Gloss in a bubblegum colour when I was around 14 years old, it was a gift from an aunt.
