Of course, most women will not venture out of the house without wearing lipstick.

Did you know that the very first people who used lipstick were most likely the Ancient Sumerians? And simultaneously, gemstones were being crushed and used to decorate their lips, as well as their eyes and faces. And then it caught on in China, and they used beeswax. And, in Ancient Greece, numerous people used berry-based coloring on their lips.

Popularity has grown since then.

In the 16th century, in England, the majority of the population had white plain faces and had red bright lips.

In the 19th century, lipstick was produced for the first time by using castor oil and deer tallow, and beeswax was made in France.

In the Second World War, lipstick was not available. Due to this, lipstick came to be sold in paper and plastic tubes. The very first long-lasting lipstick was created during this time.

Skip ahead to the 20th century, and lipstick exploded. While hues were limited in the early 20th century, each decade added new ones.

Lipstick has actually expanded today.
