Glossy grail
I'm not sure if my perfectly smooth, speckled marble skin seen in the picture above was from the bumbling humidity of summer in New York City or my Glossier skincare products. I think… I'm going to go with Glossier. That definitely sounds better than telling people my secret to great skin is the smoggy heat of New York City in August. Anyway, the summer of 2019 was the best for me, skin-wise at least, and so that's when I began my tumultuous affair with the beauty brand, Glossier.

THE LOVE OF THREE BEAUTY PRODUCTS
The first time I put makeup on, I did not have a clue how to do it. I was not allowed to put on makeup until I was thirteen. My mom did not teach me because using makeup wasn't her thing! When I came out of my room with makeup on, my grandfather told me to wash it off! I told him no, I did not wash it off my face! Not after I spent an hour putting the makeup on my face. I was hoping my girlfriend would give me some advice with makeup. She and I were meeting our friends at the movie theatre. When she was at my home I asked her if I put the makeup on o.k. She told me it was good and gave me some good advice. I left with my girlfriend and told her my grandfather told me to wash it off my face. Boy did she laugh when I told her that! I said to her he is Italian and he does not like makeup on women. That day we had fun at the movies, and after the movie ended I went home!

I'm So Grateful for My Ex Job
I discovered my holy grail skincare product - The One, my ride or die, my deserted island product - approximately four years ago. I was working at a well-known beauty retail store at the time as a part-time assistant manager. I mostly did behind the scenes work, such as unloading truck shipments or changing marketing at ungodly hours in the morning before opening hours. Being a manager in a beauty store has its perks - including many, many pieces of gratis gifted to me that I wouldn't have been able to afford even with my employee discount. However, this isn't an expensive cream or foundation. My holy grail skincare product wasn't even for sale at this retailer. And it still isn't. And it probably never will be. But because I was a manager at this store, it led me to discover that I needed this product in my life and it changed the quality and feel of my skin almost immediately. There is no going back.

How Cold Pressed Coconut Oil Healed My Scars
As a teenager I had pretty bad acne and tried everything on the market that I could get my hands on to make it all just go away. Unfortunately nothing worked. In fact some of the products were quite harsh; drying out my skin, some even irritating my skin further, causing more breakouts. I was also guilty of squeezing and popping pimples; a big no- no. To try and cover it all up I would pile on foundation and makeup. This actually drew more attention to my face and my skin continued to suffer. I endured this all throughout high school and in cycles into my adult years. Finally things settled down and in my 30s’ I found myself acne free for good!
