Full Moon in Sagittarius: Using Moon Phases For A Better Skincare Routine

Our Moon is busy this summer! We are in the middle of three consecutive Supermoons, and on May 26, 2021 we get a total lunar eclipse while our Moon is visiting zodiac sign Sagittarius. It will be a Sagittarius Full Moon and as long as it's viewed at night this lunar eclipse will be safe to watch. When the moon falls into the shadow of Earth blocking our Sun, we get a lunar eclipse. To signify the wildflowers that bloom during May, the first full moon of the month has been called the Flower Moon. The mood will feel especially charged because this Flower Moon is a totally lunar eclipsed supermoon. The Supermoon effect happens because our moon will swing the closest to Earth during its transit in what astronomers and astrologists refer to as a 'perigee'. A lunar 'apogee' is the farthest distance away from us. Coincidentally, this will also be a very rare Blood Supermoon. The partially obscured moon will not only appear bigger than usual, it turns an orange-reddish hue as the moon passes through the Earth's shadow.
Did you read my blog about our Moon? You can read it by clicking the link below! I clarify the difference between a lunar eclipse and a solar eclipse, what a waxing moon and waning moon can be used for in skincare, and some interesting, lesser known fun facts. When our Moon transits between Earth and Sun, we get a Solar Eclipse. This year we get a solar eclipse in June 2021!
In Astrology, planets and signs fall into gender categories according to their energies. Traditionally, the masculine is an extroverted energy and the feminine is more introverted. The moon is an introverted, feminine energy that either magnifies or diminishes the energy of the sign it transits through, depending on whether the moon phase is waxing (growing bigger) or waning (growing smaller).
Sagittarius...or Centaurus?

Did you know that there are two centaur constellations in our night sky? It made writing about Sagittarius for this blog a bit tedious. In case I am confused about ANYTHING, feel free to e-mail me and help correct the information! I would love any clarification for future blogs and conversation!
To begin with, the centaur is a creature who has the upper torso of a human and the body of a horse. Usually they are depicted as a man or woman carrying a drawn out bow with an arrow ready for hunting. There is a total of 88 constellations and 48 of those constellations were documented during the 2nd century by the famed Greek astronomer, Ptolemy.
Of the two centaur constellations, the constellation of Centaurus is supposed to depict the mythological Centaur whose arrow points towards the center of the Milky Way. This is an area with such a bright, illuminated veil from star clusters and nebulae that we can't even see it.
The sun travels through the astrological sign of Sagittarius from November 21 until December 21. Seen in my screenshot below, Sagittarius is shaped like a teapot. The important thing to remember is that there is a difference between the astrological sign and the astronomical constellation. During the Winter Solstice on December 21 - 22 (I write about this solstice below) the sun enters Capricorn.

In the present-day sky, for two weeks every year, from about November 29 until December 17th, the sun shines in front of astronomical Ophiuchus. I will definitely have to write a whole separate blog about this constellation to help clarify the many discrepancies and lack of knowledge about this 'Serpent Bearer' guy of Winter. Scorpius is on one side and then the sun shines in front of astronomical Ophiuchus, which appears to partially eclipse Sagittarius.
Around 3,000 years ago Babylonians defined the 12 zodiac signs we know and love today. The forgotten 13th zodiac sign is called Ophiuchus and is a constellation found within the 'circle of animals' that are used for zodiac signs: Pisces, Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Ophiuchus, Sagittarius, Capricorn, and Aquarius.
Tied into the 'Forbidden Arts' of divination, Astrology was banned during the 12th century. Astronomical constellations seen in the sky became a science. But our 'line of sight' changes due to the position of our planet. Separating Astrology from Astronomy changed that divining formula. Fortunately, Queen Elizabeth I kept her court Astronomer, Astrologist, and Mathematician John Dee, in her employ. Astrology and Astronomy, as an art of Occult sciences the way the Babylonians practiced it, had not been completely eradicated. During the 17th century, occultism became a widely practiced and deeply researched art.
The sun transits through Capricorn roughly between December 21 until January 19. The Winter Solstice falls on December 21-22. Winter Solstice marks the period that our Sun has reached the lowest point in the sky and this is our shortest day of the year. Winter Solstice marks the end of Winter as our Sun then begins it's climb back up. Our days begin to grow longer and our nights shorter.
One of the things that sets the constellation Sagittarius apart from the other 13 constellations in the zodiac is that the sun shines in front of it during the Winter Solstice on December 21st. The gravitational pull from our Sun and Moon changes our north celestial pole, our equinox and solstice points, and also changes the view of our constellations approximately every 26,000 years. Perhaps we can't keep up, or we've just grown too lazy to update our zodiac wheel every few thousand years? As it stands today, Ophiuchus is between Scorpius and Sagittarius. Time for astrologers to play catch up!

Centaurus is a constellation that is typically seen during the summer and is not part of the zodiac wheel. This constellation is one of the largest in the night sky and for the southern hemisphere, one of the brightest that can be viewed year round. Centaurus is best viewed during the month of May and this year on May 20th specifically. It's brightest stars are Beta and Alpha Centauri.
The 'Archer':
Sagittarius is Latin for 'archer' and is the 9th sign of the horoscope zodiac wheel. Greek mythology has Chiron (Sagittarius) with an arrow aimed, ready to fire at Scorpius, who had been sent to kill the hunter Orion. Sagittarius is what mythologists call a Satyr, a beast that is part human and part animal. In Greek myths, a Sea-goat by the name Pan (a satyr), who has the head of a human on a goat-like body, helped Zeus (Jupiter) defeat his father, Cronus (Saturn).

Sagittarius is ruled by the planet of luck, Jupiter, the fifth planet in our solar system and also the biggest. In Greek mythology, Zeus is known as another name, Jupiter, and is depicted as sitting on a throne after overthrowing his father, Saturn. Like his father, Jupiter wields thunderbolts and lightning so he is also a god of the sky and is considered a supreme deity who oversaw and controlled fate in battles. Romans offered sacrifice and took oaths in his name.
Not only can it be difficult to disentangle the myths for the constellations of our night sky, we can easily become confused when we view them from Earth without knowing what patterns of stars we are looking for. Capricorn (ruled by the planet Saturn) is right on the heels of Sagittarius, and the constellation Ophiuchus eclipses Sagittarius every Winter. Or is that the other way around? This is a lesser known event every year. The much celebrated Winter Solstice is on the cusp of every Capricorn season, and a new beginning is marked. The Winter Solstice is the time to break out all the celebratory food and drink stored, a treasured reward, for surviving through the bleak, inhospitable cold of Winter!
Sagittarius Full Moon Lunar Eclipse
'Always be prepared' should be the motto for a Sagittarius Full Moon! The centaurs of mythology are known as being the rough-housing, loud, mead drinking and celebratory bunch. They are always ready to grab their weapons at a moments notice. Sagittarius is a fire sign and enjoy lighthearted competition, are always ready to protect against predators, even go on a chance hunting party. Whatever goes down, in one way or another, they'll find a way to make the luck turn...for them! All the other signs tend to pay them tribute in order to feel like part of their clan. Everyone wants to be around a fun-loving Sagittarius! They aren't just takers, this sign likes to share any tribute and bounty gained from hard labor with others, and they are always open to newcomers. The more, the merrier is how Sagittarians roll...but only if newcomers have something to contribute, too!
But word of warning: After the partying is over, another satyr, the very serious and down-to-Earth Capricorn is waiting in the wings for an opportunity on sharing stable plans with the other zodiac signs for building, planting, and generally becoming ready for the warmth of Spring.
On May 26th, during our Sagittarius Full Supermoon, the expansion energy that Jupiter is known for in mythology will be completely unhindered. This is the perfect night to have some fun and grab food outdoors! Make sure to start out your day with a nice, healthy infusion of moisture-based skincare, like the CBD Oil line or one of the Vitamin products The Body Shop offers. The CBD Soothing Oil-Balm Cleansing Mask is non-drying and gently relaxing to all those tense nerves in your face. It will leave your skin feeling soft and looking dewy fresh all night long! This line is one of my favorites to use for the waxing moon phase. I love the way the CBD Restoring Facial Oil feels at night after I take a hot bath, take off my makeup, and sometimes I just want to infuse some healing moisture into my skin to work its magic while I sleep.
Don't forget to protect your face using Drops of Youth Bouncy Jelly Mist. Make sure to carry a nicely scented body and hair mist too because chances are high that you're going to have a busy night out!
The freshness of this Flower Moon begins a beautiful moon phase. Fun-loving and sociable, there's plenty of chances to eat well, meet new people, learn new things and grow new friendships, and even make business connections for the future. Colour Crush lipstick in Tahiti Hibiscus, or the Lip and Cheek Stain in Pomegranate, with the Shimmer Waves 3-in-1 compact (blush, highlighter, eyeshadow) in Coral from The Body Shop's makeup line will have you luminescent under the Sagittarius Full Moon tonite!

It would probably be a good idea to make plans ahead of time about turning in early on May 26th. You don't need to overdo the night and then be that one guest who overstayed their welcome. The hearty, celebratory mood of the Sagittarius Full Moon really won't last long. The surprise energy that comes with a total lunar eclipse casts a shadow over the evening. The mood will seem to dampen the festivities rather quickly.
Definitely take the next couple nights that the waning gibbous moon (moon grows smaller) in Capricorn offers to reflect on your new experiences. Don't forget to use your facial detox routine during the two weeks of the waning moon phase! Then in six months, on December 4 2021, see what the introverted energy from the Sagittarius New Moon can show you from this Sagittarius Full Moon Lunar Eclipse! Generally, our intentions from full moons and new moons can be seen six months later when the moon transits the same sign but in the opposite phase. LUCKILY this summer, you have more than one opportunity for the abundance that Jupiter can bring! We have two Sagittarius Full Moon's in a row, the second happens in June 2021.
