For several years now, I’ve been a passionate metalhead! I love getting spooked with all kinds of heavy metal, punk, dark rap and screamo hits I’ve listened to for the last seven years. From listening to classic rock hits like Rattlesnake Shake by Motley Crüe and the most recent screamo hit like Rock ‘n’ Roll (Will Take You To The Mountain) by Skrillex, I’ve had multiple moments where I’ve been spooked!

Whether it’s Halloween or not, I’m always down to listening to some good heavy metal, punk, dark rap and screamo hits, when I’m in the right mood!

Since Halloween is right around the corner, I want to invite you to come to my virtual Halloween party and listen to my favourite spooky songs here on Vocal! Grab some candy, put on your costumes, enjoy and have fun!

1. Sehnsucht-Rammstein

I remember this 90's German scary, dark and eerie tune like it was yesterday! In Grade 9, I went through a phase in which I enjoyed listening to eerie music, and Sehnsucht was one of the songs that I liked listening to regularly on my iPhone or computer. I downloaded it to listen to on my iPhone, for when I can't listen the song on YouTube. I don't remember how I discovered the song in the first place, but I'm grateful to have discovered it. Believe it or not, I still have it on my iPhone, so I can go back in time when I listened to Sehnsucht in Grade 9.

Although I didn't speak German at the time, I didn't mind listening to it since I loved listening to music in different languages.

If you enjoy listening to ominous rock music, this song is perfect for you.

2. Psychosocial- Slipknot

As I began listening to more and more heavy metal music in high school, I became exposed to more bands on the Internet. Bands like Slipknot was unfamiliar to me until I randomly found it on the web, as well as finding it on a mutual friends Facebook profile. That's when I found the song Psychosocial on both YouTube and Apple Music and listened to it for free. I found it quite spooky, but worth listening to. It was the perfect song to listen to on cloudy afternoons, dark winter evenings or at night when I would be lounging around in my pitch-black room.

Because of how intensely frightening this song is, this would be a fantastic tune to listen to on Halloween!

3. Nuclear Family- Green Day

Like I've stated on many occasions, Green Day is my all-time favourite rock band. I would listen to their songs, even when it's not Halloween. Lots of their songs are quite dark, spooky and eerie, which is what I typically enjoy. Nuclear Family is one of the songs that I listen to pretty much once-twice a week on my iPhone. I would listen to this song on my walks, at home or when I'm shopping at different stores. I've had this song on my iPhone for the last four years and I'm never getting rid of it.

For all Green Day fans, this would be a great song to listen to!

4. Day of the Dead- Hollywood Undead

I started listening to Hollywood Undead when I was in Grade 11. Day of the Dead was the first Hollywood Undead song I listened to and downloaded on my iPhone. This song definitely gives me the shivers and goosebumps; that's how spooky and eerie this tune is! I love the thrill of being spooked by music though, so this song is the perfect one if I'm in the mood to get spooked. Believe ir or not, I still have it on my iPhone for when I want to listen to it outside of the house. Sometimes, I can't always have access to WiFi in the community, so I'm grateful to have this song to listen to on Apple Music.

For anyone who likes listening to songs by Hollywood Undead, I'm sure you can relate to me!

5. Debonaire- Dope

Debonaire is another song I listened to in Grade 11. Although I don't love it as much as the song Day of the Dead by Hollywood Undead, I still wouldn't mind giving this song a listen. Whether it's Halloween or not, I don't mind putting on my earbuds and listening to this song in and out of the home. I haven't listened to this song in ages, so I'm happy to include this into my playlist of favourite Halloween tunes, because I can remember listening to this song in my late-teenage years.

For those of you who love listening to songs by Dope, I'm sure we'll all have something to relate to! This is definitely the tune that will make the hairs at the back of your neck stick up and give you the goosebumps.

6. Zombie Nation- Kernkraft 400

This classic tune brings back summer camp memories from 2010! In the mornings during flagpole, this song was often played. Sometimes, it was even played at camp-wide events. Although this is not heavy metal, dark rap or punk rock, you can kind of sense the eerieness in the song. I haven't listened to this song in quite a few years however, I still like listening to it whenever I'm in the mood to do so. Sometimes, I'll listen to this song even when it's not Halloween, because I want to go back in time and think about my summer camp days in 2010.

Techno lovers of all types would love this song. If you've heard of this song and enjoy it, I'm sure we can be on the same page.
