Why Zen Music and Healing Go Hand In Hand
Music is a universal language that moves the soul and heal us within.

Have you ever felt like you don't know where to turn when you can't explain what's going on inside? Its a feeling like you aren't in control of your mental and emotional mind? Similar to a drop in the ocean but without realizing that you are the ocean because water rules emotions. And we are all here partaking in and making up the whole ocean while being lost at sea. Literally.
What is it for you that helps you get through these confusing times? For me that is music. But not just any music...conscious music!
It helps when trying to understand to simply think of conscious music as the "woke" cousin from out of town trying to set music free and bridge the gap from mainstream. It is most certainly a sure goto when wanting to hear something enlightening and most definitely inspirational.
What is conscious music?
When contemplating about what " conscious" music consists of or where it is derived from, a range of questions can typically arise.
Well conscious means being aware of one's own existence as well as thoughts, sensations and surroundings. With that being said it is known around the world and defined as medicine music that is created with conscious positive healing intention that is transferred directly from the lyrics and melodies to the heart of the listener. It is tremendously powerful because it is connected to being of service to others and honoring all life as sacred.
I like to call it music of the mind. To me it is music that you can feel every rhythm and beat in your soul. Its the type of music that has the ability to lift your spirits and makes you feel good after listening to it. Conscious music also almost always has a message enveloped within the lyrics. Your mood is sure to have a boost and you will instantly feel a shift that will have you vibrating high and feeling positive vibes.
There are many common themes in conscious music that include Afrocentricity, love, culture, aversion to crime and violence, world peace, the economy, or depictions of the struggles of ordinary people.
What is a conscious artist?
A conscious artist is one who entwine messages of peace, love, gratitude, acceptance, and self love into every element and component of their musical masterpieces.
It's equivalent in many aspects as those who choose to use their power to create beautiful work while consciously wanting to be of service to humanity and inspiring those in alignment around the world.
More often then not, a conscious rapper or reggae artist opt to build their own following and not sell their soul or dumb down their music and go mainstream in order to rise to the top faster because they know what comes up, must come down! So seeking mass-scale popularity and commercial fame is a road they don't often travel or consider.

Maybe you've heard the term already or maybe not yet but conscious rap is sometimes referred to as Political Rap. It is a style/sub-genre of hip hop characterized by content that addresses society issues and calls for social action and/or political action.
To some extent some conscious rap seeks to raise awareness of social issues, while of course leaving the listeners to form their own opinions while other styles are laced with more aggressiveness for certain ideas and actions.
