From All-Star Athlete to celebrity music manager and entrepreneur, Randall Parker “E.S.S.O.” has worked behind the scenes with many legendary artists, producers, and songwriters within the music business.
Today, E.S.S.O. shares years of knowledge in life, world events, sports, and culture on the Bag Fuel Podcast and the Triangle Offense TV series with DJ Clue. He is also set to relaunch ClueLace with partnerships lined up with athletes and schools. Esso is one of the stars of BagFuel and Triangle Offense TV as well as the co-founder of ClueLace with DJ Clue.
Esso, (Randall Parker) was born in Bronx, New York, and raised in South Jamaica Queens. In his early years, he was an athlete. Recruited as a basketball and baseball player, but chose basketball at A.Philip Randolph High School in Harlem eventually becoming Top 60 point guard in the country. He attended Morgan State University on an academic scholarship studying Political Science and minoring in Accounting, with the intentions of learning about the music business.
While in college, Parker started to promote parties, concerts, events with the likes of Jay Z, Fabolous, Diddy, and DJ Clue. Upon graduation, he landed a management position with Cory Rooney Entertainment, overseeing producers Loren Dawson and Troy Oliver on projects such as JLO, Ginuwine, Jessica Simpson, and Marc Anthony.
Parker eventually launched RanPark Entertainment. He started developing relationships and partnerships at first being the liaison reporting Kevin Mucthison on product marketing and promotions for Monster Products as well as developed marketing strategies to onboard new and veteran artists for Slyde Collect Mobile App. Esso continues to work with DJ Clue, established producers, songwriters in addition to developing partnerships in the corporate world solidifying his place in the entertainment world. What inspired you to become a celebrity music manager?
Esso: The love of music. And that's where I felt my talents could gain me entry into the music industry.
What are some obstacles you had to overcome that kept you grounded in your career?
Esso: People lying on me was a big obstacle to overcome. And coming into the business without any relationships. I made my way on sheer hard work & building my resume slowly but surely.
What do you think are some of the best qualities you have that keep you a thriving entrepreneur?
Esso: I love accomplishing things. I’m not scared to reinvent myself at any time. I have a lot of faith in my ability. And I’m a seeker of knowledge in all areas that interest me. And I go all the way with it. I’m very passionate & put my heart into everything I love.
How do you balance career and self-care?
Esso: I put self-care in my schedule. Self-care is very important to me. Plus I start my day with exercise and my body responds great to it. And it makes me feel better overall.
What is the best advice you have ever received?
Esso: Do not wear your emotions on your sleeve. People will take advantage of anything you show them.
What can we be on the lookout for from you?
Esso: I have an EP dropping w/ King YK. I’m on the new season of the YouTube TV show “8 At The Table”. And I’m the lead in a movie called “Twerk” directed by J. Jesses Smith …
What do you want your legacy to be?
Esso: Great Question. I wanna leave behind a legacy of hard work, perseverance & loyalty. All of them have been key to my success & longevity.
