Travis Scott Wants To Make Amends For Astroworld Tragedy

Travis Scott says he wants to heal Houston after Astroworld, but needs people to be receptive after the deadly stampede.

Sometimes in life, words, actions, and events follow you. No matter how much you downplay the reality, it remains like a fragrance sprayed in a room. It permeates through your whole existence even after you have left the area. Such is the case with Travis Scott.

It’s been nearly four years since his Astroworld disaster. He, still, must navigate through the rough and torrid terrain that has brought heat to him. He, though, received no criminal charges for the ten deaths that occurred during his concert. The entire situation has haunted him ever since even after dropping projects.

His resolve to restore his image and legacy is honorable. What he wants is to bring together the ideals of reconciliation while still preserving the memory of those who fell. In the same way he has been a staunch supporter of beats and rhymes, he seeks to showcase his concerns and sentiments for the families affected by the tragedy.

It’s still something that will always be associated with the Houston rapper. No matter what he does, he could cure cancer and people will still be saying, “Well you know there was that incident at Astroworld back in ‘21.”

While there will never be an escape from the pain and loss of that horrific day, Scott desires to not only turn the page but pick up another book entirely.

When the incident occurred, Scott seemed to be in a state of utter disbelief. Within his bewilderment, he found a way to direct attention to the people hurt and dying. Now, he is aiming to become a statesman in the hip hop sphere. His abilities in trying to cast a better light on himself has come at a price. Like quicksand, the more he works to distance himself from those ugly events, the deeper he finds himself mired down in controversy.

As he discovers new ways of being a better person, he has developed a method for “healing” Houston. The odor still lingers after all these years. He has the power to let himself be a change agent for his city.

Now, this probably means free shows, charitable work, and an endless stream of apologies. If he is able to save his town, it will be because he made the effort to change the minds of the people. He ought to provide a space for those to grieve and mourn and also get pumped and excited about his shows.

On a macro scale, September 11, 2001 should always be remembered and especially New York City where the towers collapsed. At the same time, the gleaming One World Trade Center stands in their place as a symbol of reconstruction and resilience.

The micro scale of Scott’s vision to recreate an image for himself should be the same kind of idealism. To consider Scott an active participant in his own public image demise would be cruel. He has been a shining light for his city and wants to set things right…still. If he is enabled to bring to the fore his integrity and honesty, he should see no change in his demeanor. He’s remained truthful throughout this entire time. Success has followed him despite the poor publicity he’s received since the Astroworld debacle. His dedication to the microphone is unparalleled. The hip hop star has benefitted financially from his efforts but he wants to restore his image. By at once distancing himself and embracing the events at Astroworld, he should be able to not forget but move forward on the strength of his own powers. Upon further inspection of his consciousness and character, Travis Scott might just find peace.
