The Phenomenal Avril Lavigne

My playlist is never complete without the miraculous voice of Avril Lavigne.

After 18 years of "Let Go," my night music sessions still start with the incredible voice of Avril Lavigne. Starting from "Let Go" to "Head Above Water," she never failed to mesmerize us with her unbelievable lyrics, music, and voice. Every time I listen to her voice, it's always like the first time.

Sad & Peace

After a record-breaking release on her wonderful album "Let Go," which included some of the greatest hits of her career - Complicated, I'm with you, Get Over It, and Sk8er Boi, she was on her way to success. Her songs always involve something highly related to your life; I think she has the power to read her listeners' minds.

Uh huh, life's like this

Uh huh, uh huh, that's the way it it . .

And you fall, and you crawl, and you break

And you take what you get, and you turn it into

Honesty and promise me I'm never gonna find you faking

- Complicated | Let Go | 2002 |

The rhythmic patterns and use of words are quite unique in her songs, and I could relate to her even though I hadn't experienced any of this in life. This is the sign of an incredible singer, making you feel something you never felt before. She makes you a part of her song because she means what she sings - I'm with you, and with this song, she is literally with me whenever I hear this song.

The second song of the same album - I'm with you, involves a similar concept but with soothing music. This song's specialty is that it can be related to many things happening in life, whether personal or professional. Lyrics go like this -

I'm standing on a bridge

I'm waitin' in the dark

I thought that you'd be here by now

A fresh broken-up couple could relate to this probably with wet faces, and these lines could make them wetter, and the song continues like -

Oh, why is everything so confusing?

Maybe I'm just out of my mind

I had a quite confusing phase in my life where I couldn't continue whatever I was doing and didn't have the courage to throw it all up. These lines and a slow bass at the back reached straight to my thoughts, it couldn't dispel my confusion but still provided enough peace for further grinding, and it was an arduous task to find peace that time.

And then, in 2004, she came up with a fabulous album with a beautiful name "Under My Skin," and I discovered something amazing about her. This album made my belief more firm that SHE WILL NEVER FAIL TO SHOCK US! Album included magical songs like "My Happy Ending" and "Nobody's Home." These songs always remain at the #1 position in my playlist, the music and words of "My Happy Ending" are literally exceptional. I'll get into the lyrics with an amazing incident that happened.

So, I was listening to this song maybe 100th time, and a part comes where words go like -

Let's talk this over

It's not like we're dead

Was it something I did?

Was it something you said?

And the 100th time, I was thinking the same thing, how could someone come with such amazing lyrics. As a matter of fact, I never had a relationship in my life, but I felt so sad about my breakup 🤣 , And the song continued like -

It's nice to know that you were there

Thanks for acting like you cared

And making me feel like I was the only one

It's nice to know we had it all

Thanks for watching as I fall

And letting me know we were done

I think I have already bored you explaining my obsession with her, here the story is different. In the song, when these lines come, her pitch is very high, and the music is loud enough. I thought how could she stabilize her voice at such a high pitch, and around 2010, rumors regarding singers using autotuners were also becoming prevalent. I went straight to YouTube and found a live AOL session of this song, and I was shocked. SHE SINGS EXACTLY THE SAME! Absolutely no editing with her voice, it was damn original. She has an autotuner in her throat!

So, is that all? Avril Lavigne is a great singer, doesn't use autotune, and sings sad songs? Wait! Wait! Rock is about to get intense!

Literally "The Best Damn Thing"

The album includes legendary songs like - When You're Gone and Innocence, which proved to be Avril's greatest hits. Some tear dropping lines form the songs are-

And all I ever wanted was for you to know

Everything I do, I give my heart and soul

I can hardly breathe; I need to feel you here with me

-When You're Gone

I found a place so safe, not a single tear

The first time in my life and now it's so clear

It's the state of bliss you think you're dreaming

It's the happiness inside that you're feeling

It's so beautiful it makes you wanna cry

-Innocence

This time Avril brought up an amazing rock-pop song, "Girlfriend," which became her first song to peak at #1 on Billboard Hot 100. This was the song most people danced on till their last breath, it was filled with refreshing beats and dead drop words. One of the best parts of this song is -

In a second you'll be wrapped around my finger

'Cause I can, 'cause I can do it better

There's no other

So, when's it gonna sink in?

She's so stupid

What the hell were you thinking?!

You can't get enough of her. Just notice the versatility of her singing, both of the songs were of a completely different genre. After a few record-breaking success with "Goodbye Lullaby" and "Avril Lavigne," she faced critical circumstances in her real life. A lot happened with her personal life, her health conditions deteriorated, and many strange controversies of her disappearance were widely spread, but she survived all. She came back in 2019 with her amazing single "Head Above Water," and in this song, she explained all about what she felt during this 5-year catastrophic break.

God, keep my head above water

I lose my breath at the bottom

Come rescue me, I'll be waiting

I'm too young to fall asleep

Head Above Water is a heart-breaking song for all the Avril fans, but at the end of the day, SHE IS BACK ! and somehow, that is everything.

She just released an amazing song on 8 Jan 2020 with MOD SUN named "Flames," and her music is just as beautiful as it was in 2002. In 2021, she'll be collaborating with marvelous artists like Machine Gun Kelly, as she announced through her Instagram account. A lot of "Avril Magic" will happen this year, and we are eagerly waiting for it!
