What Happened to the Old Legends?
Whether it was in the past or in the present, there wasn't any celebrity who people claimed were "perfect." Actually, there probably were people who did say that but had little to no knowledge of that person. I realize talking about this topic is sort of controversial but it all comes straight from my opinion. What I really noticed from this topic is that the old singers put passion into their music, not so people could relate, or so they could get big money, but so they could make themselves happy and sing their heart out. Now, don't get me wrong, there are singers who do put passion into their music, but I have seen more singers that you can just tell put very little effort in their music and didn't write it themselves. A good majority of the popular songs today that I hear have no creativity or anything, shouting out at you to love the song—while all I hear is a decent tune with an auto-tuned voice.

For the Love of Lars
I was introduced to punk rock in 2004 by my now husband. He showed me SLC Punk and, at 21, it instantly changed my life. I had felt lost and alone for years, even if I was surrounded by people that loved me. I was not whole. SLC was like getting punched in the gut while having the brightest light you can imagine flashing in your face. It was loud, violent, chaos... It was beautiful and my missing link. Punk rock had been hiding inside me waiting for the right person to wake up the beast.

Op-Ed: Nicki Minaj and Cardi B Beef
I woke up at five something this morning and checked my phone, as per my usual morning routine. What caught my eye is the Twitter moment about Nicki Minaj and Cardi B’s ongoing “beef.” I have a real problem with beefs within the rap community, mostly because it was rumored to be a beef that led to the deaths of Biggie and Tupac. They are useless and a level of petty one grows tired of reading about, seeing, and hearing of.

Stop Dragging Taylor Swift and Start Supporting the Artists You Do Like
I was at the mall a few weeks ago when I saw something that made my blood boil—a shirt. This shirt happened to have a picture of Taylor Swift on it. However, her image was distorted by flames and words that read, “RIP Taylor Swift,” and there was a faded picture of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian in the corner. My brother got a rant from me on the car ride home about that shirt.

An Ode to Klaus Nomi
If I could travel back in time and see one artist or band perform live, it would be Klaus Nomi. To this day, it saddens me that I will never get to see him in concert. Klaus Nomi is one of those singers that not everyone has heard of. Those that know him, know him for his theatrical appearances, wide vocal range, and unusual but delightful music crossing genres of rock, disco, opera and new wave. He was once a backing singer for David Bowie. His only two albums, a self-titled debut and Simple Man, showcased high talent, an open mind, and a delight for listeners who love underground discoveries.
