Why Everyone Should Listen to the Aces
If you haven’t heard of the Aces, an all-girl electronic indie pop group, well, today is your lucky day! The Aces were formed by four best friends growing up in Provo, Utah: Cristal Ramirez (lead vocals, guitar), Alisa Ramirez (drummer), Makenna Petty (bass), and Katie Henderson (lead guitar, vocals).

Emo Isn't Dead
Ah yes, emo music. For many of us, when we think of "emo" we think the early 2000s, black, and My Chemical Romance. I'm here to tell you that emo music isn't dead—it's actually very much alive. The scene has changed, but it's still going strong with bands like Mom Jeans, Oso Oso, Niiice, and more.

Country Duo Dan + Shay Is Killin' It
2018 has been a busy and successful year for country duo Dan + Shay. They released a self-titled album in June via Warner Bros. Records, appeared on stage nearly 100 times, received many award nominations, and still made time for their families.

The Downfall of Greta Van Fleet
I previously wrote an article discussing the topic of comparisons between retro-rock icon Greta Van Fleet with the classic gods of rock, Led Zeppelin. I defended Greta Van Fleet, saying that they were gonna find their own individual sound and vibe come their next album and that ultimately they would shape their band into something unique. They released their new record Anthem of the Peaceful Army in October of last year and it’s been laying on me like a corpse ever since. It’s not good. Seriously, it somehow sounds more like Led Zeppelin than their efforts up until that point. The only difference now is that there is no excuse. My only question to myself now is, why did this happen?

Stop the Nickelback Hate
No one is wrong for not being a super fan of certain genres of music. However, there has been a joke going on for who knows how long, about Nickelback being hated by a lot of people. I might not be a big enough fan to listen to all of their songs, but I do know that the longer this joke carries on, the more likely people will dismiss the songs by them that are actually passionate, tell good stories, or have good messages within them.

The Girls Are Back in Town!
I sometimes think people forget just how huge the Spice Girls were, and what they achieved. For a 90s teenager, like myself, these girls were incredible. They installed in us that anything is possible, as a woman you could achieve your dreams. They spread their message of Girl Power, and rightly achieved gigantic success all around the world.

10 One-Hit Wonder Bands That Are Way More Successful Than You Think
“Remember that one-hit wonder, Devo?” My friend had turned to me and asked that, and I remained incredulous at what I just heard. Devo, the classic 80s band, was one of my staples as a teenager. I loved their wacky pyramid hats, and also had a huge selection of their hits in my music library. For the life of me, I couldn’t understand how anyone would assume they were a one-hit wonder.
