80s music
The 80s were chockful of New Wave power ballads, synthesizers, drum machines, and no shortage of Madonna and Michael Jackson.
The Record Shop ritual. Top Story - August 2024.
From The Smiths to WH Smiths, that was the ritual. Almost every Saturday, more often in the holidays. Shuffling from shop to shop, flicking through the racks. Whatโs new and exciting? Whatโs old but influential? What did I read about this one?

Benefits Of The Availability Of Digital Music
Introduction This has been partly influenced by Julian Cope's "Copendium" that I am reading at the moment and it is introducing me to a lot of music that I was unaware of, having said that I completely missed AC/DC although I sang several of their songs when I played with Spoon and The Abominable Showmen. You can see me here much fatter singing "Wuthering Heights" (Kate Bush) and Highway To Hell (AC/DC)

A Plagiaristic Poetic Progressive Playlist
Introduction This just came into my head because I have become a member of this group , and many of the records in my collection appear on the group and the people seem really welcoming and engaging, but the group has disappeared now.

Pressure!
Pressure! I've yet to meet one person who walks this earth and is immune to pressure. Despite my laidback approach to life, pressure all too often rears its hideous head and slams me. Billy Joelโs 1982 New Wave Experimental Pop song "Pressure" snuck up on me and hit me over the head, much the same way pressure is prone to do!

We Say Goodbye Once Again to Childish Gambino
Alright back in 2020, I wrote a review about Childish Gambino's album 3.15.20 but over the years, I ended up learning that the album felt like it wasn't finished so I ended up listening to it again while it was still on Spotify. They were right, 3.15.20 felt like it wasn't done even though there were some great songs on it, he did end up coming out with the finished album that is known as Atavista now. Just like Because the Internet, Gambino builds a world with Bando Stone with not just an album but a movie as well. As far as I'm aware, there's no release date for it but there is a trailer for it.

Speechless at the Sting and Blondie Gig!
Eight months ago, She Who Books Things told me we were going to see Sting and Blondie on the same bill in June 2024. Happy days, I thought. My only worry was the weather. Outdoor gigs and Belfast arenโt a great combo. Call me soft, but four hours standing with the wind and rain slapping me up the face? No, thank you.
