Oh, my teenage years...a time of life that no amount of money could get me to revisit if that were an option. I do, however, revisit the musical memories of those years because, lets face it, music now (if you can call it that) is just going downhill. Some of my favorite songs include:

  1. I Write Sins Not Tragedies by Pan!c At The Disco, something about "I chimed in with a 'Haven't you people ever heard of, closing the G** damn door, no!' hit a different way. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vc6vs-l5dkc
  2. Misery Business by Paramore. Really anything by Paramore, even though I wasn't too interested in dating anyone back then, I had a few "puppy love" relationships, and this song was a full anthem to what would happen if someone tried to steal my boyfriend at the time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCyGvGEtOwc
  3. Fall Out Boy's 'Sugar We're Goin Down is one of the first songs I learned all the lyrics to, mostly because of a karaoke game I had for my PS2, and I was pretty damn good at singing it too. "I'll be your number one with a bullet, a loaded god-complex, cock it and pull it!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhG-vLZrb-g
  4. Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day...what angsty teen in the early 2000's didn't love Green Day??? I mean, there songs were complete moods for those of us dealing with depression and not knowing it (or even if we did know it). Stay tuned for more Green Day songs on this list, they just hit a little lower than this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Soa3gO7tL-c
  5. Toxic by Britney Spears. WHAT A MOOD!!! Literally telling somebody that they are toxic but you can't stay away! Literally exactly how toxic people work and getting away is so hard! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOZuxwVk7TU
  6. Hollaback Girl by Gwen Stefani was, in my opinion, the best song to dance to in the early 2000's and also how SOOOO many people learned how to spell bananas. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kgjkth6BRRY
  7. Another Green Day song, 'Wake Me Up When September Ends...until recently, I never actually understood what this song was about because, lets face it, it was sad and depressing and not one actually wanted to listen to understand what it was about, we all just wanted to sing the chorus as loud as we could while crying in the corner of our rooms. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NU9JoFKlaZ0
  8. Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers was the song you listened to for the beat of the music, not for the lyrics because, lets be real, the only word we could understand in this song is "Californication". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlUKcNNmywk
  9. Hilary Duff singing 'Fly', especially in 'Raise Your Voice'...All the emotions and feels, even to this day! I re-watch that movie quite a bit because it is both sad and uplifting at the same time, and oh my goodness, moods!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EQMVTTW1Sk
  10. My final top 10 is Battlefield by Jordan Sparks. So true that love feels so much like a battlefield, especially if you are with the wrong person. Love is so hard, even when it is with the right person though, so it is always a battlefield. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suPlYwJ3YvM

These are not necessarily in order because my favorite one always did, and still does, change based on my mood, I still listen to all my early 2000's music when I am feeling angsty, depressed or just needing a mood change. Nostalgia is the best cure sometimes when you find yourself in your head. So, "Girl, put your records on, tell me your favorite song, you go ahead let your hair down!" and enjoy the flash back to the early 2000's!
