Lets deep dive into the wonderful versatile and charming world of the charismatic Skylar Astin and boy is this guy talented, this a Part One of my favorite characters Enjoy! :)

NUMBER TEN

CHARACTER NAME: Isaiah Miller

TV SHOW: Graves

Skylar starred alongside Nick Nolte in this comedic drama-filled TV show about a former president, Richard Graves, who attempts to make up for his past mistakes in office.

Skylar plays Isaiah Miller, the assistant to the president. Skylar plays this role so well. This may be number ten, but Skylar rocked the cute, slicked-back, well-suited-and-booted personal assistant vibe. He was incredible in this role—his cheeky, charismatic smiles and silly-but-serious ideas were second to none.

Casting choice: approved. Skylar nailed it.

NUMBER NINE

CHARACTER NAME: Gareth Whitley

MOVIE: Hot Air

No way—Skylar as a bad guy? I didn’t see that coming! In this movie, Skylar plays Gareth Whitley, starring alongside Steve Coogan. He starts off as a very positive force—a socially acceptable, conservative image—and his character seems sweet…

Until a deeper, darker side is revealed.

Now, seeing Skylar play a bad guy—when most of what we’ve seen him in are lovable, cutesy, preppy roles—was unreal. He was still cute, but this time with a dark edge and an underlying agenda. This lands at number nine because of that edgy twist. He showed a whole new side—and it worked.

NUMBER EIGHT

CHARACTER NAME: Jean Baptiste

TV SHOW: Glee

Okay, confession time: I was never really an avid fan of Glee. But I did catch the odd episode—especially Season 5, Episode 11—and let me tell you, Skylar showed off his insane showmanship and talent in this one.

His character, Jean Baptiste, was the leader of the Glee club Throat Explosion. Born in Quebec to two acrobatic parents (seriously!), he couldn’t wait to watch New Directions perform—just so he could top it and squish them like a bug to win.

Yeah, he’s kind of a rude, jackassy, popular guy—but he does have a moral code, which gives him some brownie points. But this character definitely showcased Skylar’s theatrical chops. Big energy. Big vocals. Big personality.

NUMBER SEVEN

CHARACTER NAME: Casey

MOVIE: 21 and Over

OK, be prepared—because, well, the opening scene is... an eye-opener. Haha, to say the least.

In this film, Skylar plays the lovable Casey, who’s come to town to see his high school friends again and celebrate his best friend Jeff Chang’s 21st birthday. What should’ve been a fun night turns into a chaotic nightmare when Casey and their other best friend Miller (played by Miles Teller) have to get Jeff home safely—because he has a med school interview the next morning.

Casey is definitely the sensible one in the trio, while Miller is the wayward friend who can talk anyone into anything. Jeff, on the other hand, is hiding a secret... but no spoilers here. You’ll have to watch for yourself.

It’s a classic preppy, coming-of-age, college frat movie—so if you love that kinda thing, this is a must.

NUMBER SIX

CHARACTER NAME: Eugene

MOVIE: Ghosts of War

WOW!!! This film is incredible. You’re probably asking, “Then why isn’t it number one?” Trust me—when you see number one, you’ll understand.

The way this movie is done is fantastic. I won’t ruin it because seriously, go watch it yourself—it’s crazy, and the twist is so unexpected.

Skylar’s character, Eugene, is crazy impressive. He’s a code-breaker—and, of course, Skylar does what he does best: he plays the piano. But this time, there’s an eerie feel to it. And you’ll quickly see why.

He’s got this geeky, quiet vibe, with his kind of Harry Potter-esque glasses , but in a dark, intense way. Skylar delivers a haunting, captivating performance. Hella impressive.

Well this was part one 10-6 tune in to vocal again soon for part two when I explore my top five skylar characters, and we get a little musical.

Go check him out in these tv shows and movies while your at It, honestly you will not regret it.
