I first discovered Sara about seven years ago when searching for the Paul Simon's Still Crazy after all These Years and she blew me away. Her voice speaks for itself.

For years, this was the only tune of hers that I listened to. That turned out to be a mistake.

1 HER SONGS CAN BE LISTENED TO FOREVER

Be they covers or originals Sara's style is timeless. She calls it yatch rock but that doesn't quite convey the effect her tunes can have on you.

Take Monroe for example, it's one of our favourite songs but there are nineteen other tunes on her google autocomplete list. This girl works hard and makes it look effortless. Her fans compare her to Taylor Swift and Adele and she humbly deletes those comparisons from her comments after saying thank you! She has class.

2 CATERS FOR DIFFERENT MOODS AND A VARIED AUDIENCE

Talk to any three of her fans and you'll find they all have different favourite songs that she either wrote or covered. Your favourite medium for listening to her will have hours of tunes to check out.

3 WEEKLY WACKLY WEDNESDAYS

Every Wednesday from when lockdown started to this day there is a phenomenon called Weekly Wacky Wednesdays that is essentially, a joyful little sing along to our favourite songs. Sara plays some tunes, takes requests and sight reads tunes while playing guitar to great effect. You come for the tunes and stay for the kazoo, the banjo, camaraderie in the comments. People join from all over the world including England, Spain, UAE, Brasil, various parts of America, Wales and it's live!

There are over forty hours of tuneage to look at and all of it full of fun.

4 SIXTY SECOND SARA

These are sixty second clips of superlative singing hits such as lovely day, Eleanor Rigby and QuaranTeam. The third or fourth most special thing about these is after such a lovely gift she has the temerity to than US!

If you're anything like me you can't watch one and not smile.

5 GREAT ROLE MODEL

It's hard to exaggerate how impressive it is to see her work ethic in terms of songwriting, her adventurousness with a green screen, the safe space she creates which lets her learn things right in front of us and lets us see her progress in real-time.

6 A GREAT EXAMPLE OF IKIGAI

There is a concept called Ikigai which basically means one's life purpose. Sara found hers early on and lives it lightly and happily every day. I can't tell you the number of awful days I've had which were cheered up by this one human. You should get to know her.

Thank you Sara.

About the Creator

Cellestine Aggrey

I want to know what it took the best writers to get good. I'm curious. The minute Shakespeare, WC Williams, T Hughes, CA Duffy had done their best work must have felt like sky diving. We all should know what that deep catharsis feels like.
