Frontman Rob Phillips wrote the song about the first time he met his wife, recalling the chance encounter that would change both of their lives forever.

The two had lived and worked in the same town, just steps away from one another yet had never crossed paths. One night, on a whim, Phillips visited a high-end restaurant on a friend’s recommendation. As fate would have it, he was greeted by a hostess with captivating brown eyes and a warm smile. In that moment, they both felt an immediate connection - one of those rare, life-altering instants when everything just clicks. “It was like finding a needle in a haystack,” Phillips reflects.

The song itself mirrors this emotional journey. Siren brings together tender, introspective verses with soaring cinematic choruses that reflect the intensity of newfound love. Phillips’ heartfelt vocals carry an earnest sincerity, while Mike Cupino’s steady and propulsive drumming provides the rhythmic heartbeat. Layers of electric and acoustic guitars, combined with atmospheric elements give “Arrow” a sense of space and movement, as if the music itself is tracing the invisible lines that guide two people toward each other.

The video tells the story of two people unknowingly crossing paths every day, living parallel lives but never truly seeing each other. They move through the same spaces, their moments almost aligning but always just missing until fate steps in.

Deitz introduced the idea of a paper airplane as a symbol of connection, a simple yet profound representation of destiny guiding two souls together. As the video progresses, the airplane’s journey leads the couple to their ultimate meeting on a bridge where they finally recognize what was meant to be. The embrace in the final scene is a powerful resolution, bringing home the idea that love has its own timing, and when it arrives, it’s undeniable.

A Personal and Meaningful Moment

While the video captures the universality of love and serendipity, the filming itself was also a deeply personal experience for the band.

The performance scenes were shot at JD’s in Coral Springs, Florida, a familiar and meaningful setting for the band. Adding to the significance is Phillips’ 100-year-old father-in-law, a World War II veteran, who was present during the shoot. “He’s a true rock star,” Phillips says. “Having him there with us, celebrating this song and this moment, was something we’ll always cherish as a family.” The presence of a man who had lived a century of experiences, witnessing the power of love in its many forms, only deepened the weight of the song’s message.
