
Canadian singer Paul Anka was among the most influential singers and songwriters in music history. His career spanned over six decades and his hits were in various music genres, such as pop, rock, jazz, and country. He was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame.
Paul Anka wrote the theme for “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson,” one of the biggest hits for Tom Jones, “She’s a Lady,” and the English lyrics to Claude Francois and Jacques Revaux’s music for Frank Sinatra’s signature song, “My Way.” He co-wrote three songs with Michael Jackson—"This Is It," "Love Never Felt So Good," and "Don't Matter to Me," which became posthumous hits for Jackson in 2009, 2014, and 2018, respectively.
Anka’s latest album, Making Memories, came out in 2021,and he has plenty of those, plus his songs bring back many memories for his many fans.
“Diana” is a song that was recorded and written by Anka in 1957. The song rose to number one on the Billboard R&B Best Sellers in Stores chart and also charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song made it to number one on the UK New Musical Express chart. When Anka signed up with RCA Records, he re-recorded “Diana” for his album Paul Anka’s 21 Golden Hits.
“Hold Me Till the Morning Comes” is a 1983 song recorded and written by Anka with backing vocals by Chicago band singer Peter Cetera. It is featured on his album Walk a Fine Line. The song charted on the Billboard Hot 100 and became his last Top 40 hit. The song went to number one on the Adult Contemporary chart.
“It’s Time to Cry” is a song recorded and written by Anka in the key of D sharp/E flat major, with a tempo of 74 beats per minute. The lyrics express what it feels like when a relationship is ending, leading to heartbreak, loneliness, and sadness. The song charted on the Billboard Hot 100 and Cashbox charts.
“I Don’t Like to Sleep Alone” is a song recorded and written by Anka and is featured on his 1975 album Feelings. The song charted on the Adult Easy Listening chart.
"Lonely Boy” is a song written and recorded by Anka in 1958 with Don Costa’s Orchestra in New York City. Anka also sang this song in the film “Girls Town.” The song went to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart and was listed at number 235 on the 60th Anniversary of the Billboard Hot 100.
“Love Me Warm and Tender” is a song that was recorded and written by Anka in 1961.
“Puppy Love” became a very popular song and was recorded and written by Anka. He wrote it in 1960 for Annette Funicello, a Mouseketeer who he had a crush on. The song charted on the Billboard Hot 100 and UK Singles charts.
“Put Your Head on My Shoulder” is a song recorded and written by Anka and came out in 1958. The song charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and became his third Top Five hit in 1959.It is a mid-tempo ballad with a gentle and slow-burning arrangement accompanied by Anka’s smooth and soulful vocals delivering the emotion of the lyrics with sincerity and passion.
“Times of Your Life” is a popular song by Anka that was an advertising jingle for Kodak and written by Bill Lane and Roger Nichols. Anka recorded the song in 1975 for his album of the same name. As an advertising jingle for Kodak, Anka decided to record it and it came out as a single and charted on the Billboard Hot 100 and went to the top of the Billboard Easy Listening chart. Anka includes the song in his concert appearances during shows in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"You Are My Destiny" is a song written and recorded by Paul Anka. It was recorded in September 1957 and charted on the Billboard Hot 100 and R&B charts as well as charting on the UK charts. The song continues to be a favorite of many, as it has a timeless quality that never fails to move listeners.
