Rating Mnet's Good Girl Performances Pt. 3
Good Girls vs Just Music & Wedaplugg

This episode marks the beginning of the Good Girl team facing off against outside opponents chosen by Mnet. Both the Good Girl team and the team they are competing with have the chance to win the coveted "flex" money. For these performances, instead of ranking them I'll be choosing who I think should have won between the two teams. This time it was rather easy for me to chose- in fact, I was trying not to be overly biased for the Good Girl team! - but, knowing some of the opponents coming up, I can tell it's going to get a lot harder as the episodes go on. Anyway, let's go!
1. Jamie x Sleeq x Yunhway vs Lil Tachi x Jhnovr x sAewoo
For this performance, the Good Girl team went first with Jamie, Sleeq, and Yunhway. I thought this was a great song and performance. Yunhway and Jamie's voices went so much better together than I even thought they would and Sleeq's rap was bright and refreshing. Jamie's high notes were amazing!! She was definitely the star of this team for me. I do agree with the Just Music team that the school girl concept was a bit weak and unimaginative though.
Next, the Just Music team performed a song by underground hip hop artists Lil Tachi, Jhnovr, and sAewoo. Honestly, I really had no idea who any of these artists are but I was glad to be introduced to them through this! I liked Jhnovr a lot more than I thought I would, he was a really unique singing voice. However, I did not care for Lil Tachi's rap at all and think it brought the team's performance down.
My Winner: Good Girl
Neither performance was bad, I just think the Good Girl team's was more cohesive. Their performance was all around very strong, whereas Just Music's was lacking in some areas.

Mnet's Winner: Good Girl!!!!
2. Lee Youngji vs Giriboy
If there was any performance that I was afraid of Good Girl not winning, it was this one! They were only a few artists I recognized from Just Music and Giriboy was of course one of them. There was also the added drama of it being a competition of mentor versus mentee. Giriboy performed first with a very meaningful and touching song. The simplicity of it with Giriboy just on stage with a mic stand and a band in the background gave me chills. And the falling snow was so pretty! However, I do feel like in competitions settings a song will always win more audience votes when it can hype them up rather than a ballad.
Next up was the young talent Lee Youngji! This song was so catchy and so fun, I loved watching Youngji dance and just enjoy the performance even though she was terrified to face off against Giriboy. And of course, who can resist the amazingly contagious hook by The Quiett - "naneun Lee Youngji!"
My Winner: it's a tie!
Honestly if it was anyone other than Lee Youngji, I would've voted Giriboy as the winner. Youngji's raw talent is undeniable and Giriboy is a huge name in k-hip hop - I just couldn't pick a winner!

Mnet's Winner: Lee Youngji! (and she won by a landslide too!)
3. Hyoyeon x Cheetah vs Swings x Han Yohan
Swings and Han Yohan performed first for Just Music and the crowd was hyped for them. Swings is of course a legend and fan favorite. I had never heard of Yohan and I liked him more than I thought I would, but he did a little too much yelling for me. From the clips shown earlier in the episode, they're a very high-energy duo. The song was very exciting and had a great hook, but the energy didn't seem quite as high.
Cheetah and Hyoyeon were such a unique duo so I was curious to see how their two different styles would mix. We don't often get to see Cheetah dance so that was really fun and her rap was hard-hitting - the perfect compliment to Hyoyeon's smooth vocals. They didn't get to practice together much so seeing how much they were able to put together was really impressive.
- unexpected duo and teamwork whereas the other team just did what they always seem to do
My Winner: Cheetah x Hyoyeon
The reason I chose Cheetah and Hyoyeon as the winners is because they brought something unexpected to the table with their performance and teamwork, showing different sides of themselves. The other team however just seemed to do what they are known for doing.

I love that the show has moved on to team vs team competition now and can't wait to see more! Stay tuned!
