Rain On Me (Lady Gaga ft. Ariana Grande)

So, my inspiration for this video came directly from Lady Gaga herself. The dance was of course a joke but is also something she has done for YEARS as an ode to her original fans. She is such a multi-talented artist, so I felt as though I could give back to her and just hit her dance with a little bit of myself added of course.  

Her song Rain on Me is such an all-around good song as well, it is a very pop, very dance and just a really good song for this climate we are facing today. Added to that is the vocal stylings of Ms. Ariana Grande who brings another level of WOW to the song. When I first heard it, it was such an amazing feeling to have two of pops Queens absolutely slay out on this song.  

The video I posted has reached 859K views and around 88K likes. I did not expect a video I made at nine am to bring both Gaga’s fans and Grande’s fans together like it did. There were comments coming from both sides and I also may have incited a little fan war without even intentionally doing so. The comments were filled with comparisons to other songs by both Gaga and Grande and it really brought into perspective how music reaches so many people. Some people loved it and some didn’t find it to be their cup of tea, but they sounded off in the comments regardless. Both sets of fans were totally here for the collaboration even if the song wasn’t to their liking.  

Many fans had speculated that the song they were hoping for was more of a ballad and not a dance track but that they were going to run up the plays regardless. Myself included. The song has gone on to hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and is eligible for Platinum status in the United States.

Making this video was for one so fun and freeing but also eye opening. I found myself reading each comment (and there were tons) to take in each person's reaction to both the song and the amazing music video. The music video itself has gone on to trend on YouTube and amass 163 Million views and counting.  

While watching the video for the first time was when I saw Gaga do the dance and immediately found the song already on TikTok, thus my video was born. The caption reads “I had to.... 😩😂” because I just had to do the dance she did right away. Even Alfredo Flores, Ariana’s personal photographer commented on the video saying, “😂🙌🏾” which I was so amazed that video even made it on his For You Page. The video has also been shared over 1600 times and to this day is my best video ever made on the platform.  

I also proceeded to like almost every comment, both negative and positive, because I wanted each person to know even if you dislike or like the song your thoughts are valid and appreciated. Not everything an artist(s) puts out will be to your liking and your opinion is valid regardless.  

For two weeks the video stayed in the top three lines of the audio and I really could not believe it, especially since my account is so small. It has since then dropped from there but still is getting views and likes to this day. I’m still in complete awe that me imitating Gaga has reached so many people around the world. I have over 100K likes on the platform as well and a huge chunk of those likes come directly from this video. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought this would happen but I love and appreciate all the laughs I was able to give. Doing that video also gave me a kick to continue making content and post at least one TikTok a day (with a day off every now and then) just so I can possibly bring a smile to someone’s face. I have now over 1200 followers and I still can’t believe that.

I will be continuing to make content, not really worried about the views or likes or follows, but to bring joy to at least one person and to show the world my artistry and comedy. I’d like to thank Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande for creating such an iconic bop and giving me something to belt at the top of my lungs in the shower.
