Okay so aside from the amazing music that came out of 2020, there are also some songs that actually just remind me of the vibes throughout this year. There's no particular order when it comes to these songs, but I'm sure as someone who is well aware of the events of this year you can relate or understand why these songs are a good representation. Although the songs may home an actual meaning unrelated to this year's events, at the least the song titles will have some sort of connection in my mind.

s o c i a l d i s t a n c i n g - HONNE

If someone told me someone would write a song about this idea, I would have thought it would be mad dumb, but the world surprises you.

ANIMAL CROSSING - Shawn Wasabi, Sophia Black

Technically game of the year even though it did not actually win that title. In my heart, it was a no brainer. Many of us would not have made it through the year without this perfectly timed release.

Love It If We Made It - The 1975

I listened to this song hoping it would make this whole period come to an end faster in hopes I could play it as I see the light at the end of the tunnel, but I guess I'll have to add it onto next year's playlist with how cases are going in the U.S.

Keep Yourself Alive - Queen

Perfection.

Eternal Summer - The Strokes

Summer was a blur for me honestly, but it did feel like it lasted forever. I remember this year as rainy days, hot days, & now holidays.

How Long? - Vampire Weekend

Literally felt like the LONGEST year of my life. Ever. But also not you know?

NASA - Ariana Grande

Hard Times - Paramore

This song continues to be a happy anthem for my life struggles.

Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In - The 5th Dimension

Troubled Times - Green Day

Election year & inconsistent government decisions made for a lot of troubled times for people who were struggling financially, mentally, & physically so need I say more?

20 Something - Alexander 23

Good Years - ZAYN

Let me just say. This song is such a mood most especially being I'm still pretty young so I feel like this year had so much potential to be such a good year. While I feel super thankful for the way it played out, I'm mostly bummed about the cancellation of live entertainment since it was what I was most looking forward to this year & every year.

Thinking Bout You - Ariana Grande

Thinking 'Bout You - Dua Lipa

Good Things Fall Apart - ILLENIUM, Jon Bellion

The epitome of this year. Probably one of my top songs representing this year. Again, everyone had such high hopes for 2020. The new decade. Unfortunately, like the song says, "good things fall apart" which sucks but it reminds me of the lyrics from My Favorite Part with Mac Miller & Ariana Grande "before this come together, they have to fall apart". A good reminder that although things have gone wrong, it doesn't mean that there won't be better things coming around the corner.

Stranger - Vampire Weekend

Somebody To Love - Queen

Moving Along - 5 Seconds of Summer

See You Again - Wiz Khalifa, Charlie Puth

Sometimes - Ariana Grande

fuck, i'm lonely - Lauv, Anne-Marie

High - 5 Seconds of Summer

I Know It's Over - The Smiths

Rum n Tequila - John K

Sunday Best - Surfaces

Almost Is Never Enough - Ariana Grande, Nathan Sykes

Modern Loneliness - Lauv

Lonely vibes were real this year especially when it came to using social media, for me at least because major FOMO.

SUPERBLOOM - MisterWives

Moral of the Story - Ashe

With the To All The Boys sequel released this year, this song had to be my ultimate favorite from the movie.

It's Not Living (If It's Not With You) - The 1975

Lonely Heart - 5 Seconds of Summer

IDK You Yet - Alexander 23

To Die For - Sam Smith

everytime - Ariana Grande

Another Summer Night - Alexander 23

JT - Jon Bellion

I'm Not Having Any Fun - Bad Suns

One of my favorite bands. Plus this year was a major tower moment not only for me but probably a lot of other people. A tarot card often related to transformation themes, also astrology enthusiasts & astrologists noted that with the U.S. pluto return we can expect more significant changes to continue the next few years.

Forever Young - Alphaville

Find U Again - Mark Ronson, Camila Cabello

An ode to the potential relationships that could have been, but were lost during this year.

It's Not The Same Anymore - Rex Orange County

I did a lot of self-reflection & introspection this year, which I think is greatly represented through this song. Some people call it "shadow work" & let me tell you. It is a long, difficult process which I am sure I will continue onto next year. 10/10 would recommend trying to be a better human.

Daydreamin' - Ariana Grande

Feelings - Lauv

Tell Me How - Paramore

smile more smile more smile more - HONNE

This song is probably the most feel-good song of all the ones I listed. I've probably mentioned this before, but HONNE's songs are like a literal warm hug. It's definitely a song that everyone needs to listen to after all that has happened this year. Although the title might seem like someone using toxic positivity to try to deal with things, the lyrics really do provide a reminder to be kind to yourself & others.

Want You Back - 5 Seconds of Summer

Oh boy, this is almost 50 songs! I definitely had a lot of time on my hands as you can tell. Surprisingly, my Spotify Wrapped was not accurate since I ended up using YouTube more than Spotify than in previous years. Nonetheless, if I had to do my own version, it'd probably look very similar to this list. I snuck in some songs that have personal meaning to me so their relationship may be unclear to the whole pandemic-related theme we've got going on here, just so when I look back on this playlist I remember how I was feeling.
