Playlist for the spooker..,

Who is the spooked.

By Jason HurleyPublished 4 years ago 5 min read
It has been rough, but I've been blessed.

Music has proven to soothe the soul in a time of needing comfort, provide ambience for a romantic setting, motivate when one needs to bring intensity, join lightheartedness with good spirited fun, or bring terror to the mind whether the tone or lyrics stimulate a fear we have.

Samhain, Hallow's Eve, and Halloween provide an opportunity to create a spooky playlist to be in the spirit of things. This list goes beyond the typical songs that are included in cliché fashion, and is one influenced by the creator's memory of past experiences that triggered fear for some reason.

Lyrics were Copied then pasted, and videos were obtained from YouTube.

Reflect and Enjoy please. Maybe set the mood and kick the playlist off audibly, being in a dark room with some burning candles.

Louisa Livingstone AKA Indreba

What is this. that stands before me. Figure in black, which points at me. Turn 'round quick and start to run. Find out I'm the chosen one.

Oh NO!ooooooo

Big black shape with eyes of fire. Telling people their desire. Satan's sitting there, he's smiling. Watches those flames get higher and higher.

Oh, no. No., Please, God, help me!

Is it the end, my friend? Satan's coming 'round the bend. People running 'cause they're scared. The people better go and beware.

No, no. Please, No.

A couple of childhood memories of truly feeling really scared while a song was being played probably came after I saw a short part of a movie that was on TV, named Daughters of Satan.

One night my mother and I were going somewhere and The Eagles' song 'Witchy Woman' came on. I flipped the flock out and squealed for her in horror from the back seat to change the radio station.

It had to have been around the same time, my mother was getting ready for work and take me to school. We had the Wizard of Oz album and I must have requested to listen to the B side of the album, probably a side I had not listened to before. It doesn't seem to be listed as a song when I searched for it, but I'm telling You, It was on there!

The Miss Gulch/wicked witch of the West's, "Nuh-nuh nuh nuh nuh-nuh" when she is riding her bike came on, and I started freaking out for my mom to put the record on the A side. I had seen the movie, but now was instantly petrified by the sound of clarinets and oboes. In true mommy dearest fashion she came into the room but refused to change it, stating, "Oh Nooooo! You wanted to listen to ThAt side!"

I stood there, frozen in sheer terror. I wanted to move, but couldn't.

Raven hair and ruby lips, Sparks fly from her fingertips. Echoed voices in the night, She's a restless spirit on an endless flight.

Woohoo, witchy woman. See how high she flies. Woohoo, witchy woman. She got the moon in her eye.

She held me spellbound in the night, Dancing shadows and firelight. Crazy laughter in another room, And she drove herself to madness with a silver spoon.

Woohoo, witchy woman. See how high she flies. Woohoo, witchy woman. She got the moon in her eye.

Well, I know you want a lover. Let me tell you brother, She's been sleeping in the Devil's bed. And there's some rumors going round, Someone's underground. She can rock you in the night time 'til your skin turns red.

Woohoo, witchy woman. See how high she flies. Woohoo, witchy woman. She got the moon in her eye.

Was it the TV movie that scared me, or a memory of what was to come??..

In the Tennessee mountains where the hill folk dwell, there is a story that the old folks tell. John Thomas had always been a sweet lovin' man, 'til he let Satan's child take ahold of his hand.

Pretty Nell would be waiting by the spring everyday, she lived near enough to watch John on his way. With a face like an angel and a heart that was wild, and nobody knew she was really Satan's child.

Satan's Child was a ravin' beauty, heart as black as a ravens wing. Bless you hold your loved ones near you, Satan's child will come between.

They hung poor John, for being just a man, but he was tempted more than any man could stand. He forgot about his home and he forgot about his wife, and he thought he could save himself, by taking Nelly's life.

So if your home is happy stay away from the spring, Satan's child is waiting, unhappiness to bring. Don't hurt the ones who love you, don't let your heart run wild, or you'll wind up like John Thomas.., holding hands with Satan's Child.

Satan's Child was a ravin' beauty, heart as black as a raven's wing. Bless you hold your loved ones near you. Satan's child will come between. Satan's child will come between.

You made a fool of me, but them broken dreams have got to end.

Hey woman, you got the blues. 'cause you ain't got no one else to use. There's an open road that leads nowhere, so just make some miles between here and there.

There's a hole in my head where the rain comes in, You took my body and played to win. Ha, ha, woman, it's a cryin' shame, but you ain't got nobody else to blame.

Evil woman. Evil woman. Evil woman. Evil woman.

Rolled in from another town. Hit some gold, too hot to settle down. But a fool and his money soon go separate ways, You found a fool lyin' in a daze.

Ha, ha, woman, what you gonna do. You destroyed all the virtues that the Lord gave you. It's so good that you're feeling pain. But you better get your face on board the very next train.

Evil woman. Evil woman. Evil woman. (You're an evil woman!) Evil woman.

Hey, he-he-hey Hey, he-he-hey Hey, he-hey

Evil woman. Evil woman. Evil woman. (You're an evil woman!) Evil woman.

Evil woman, how you done me wrong. But now you're tryin' to wail a different song. Ha, ha, funny how you broke me up. You made the wine, now you drink the cup.

I came runnin' every time you cried, Thought I saw love smilin' in your eyes. Ha, ha, very nice to know, That you ain't got no place left to go.

Evil woman. Evil woman. Evil woman. (You're an evil woman!) Evil woman.

Evil woman. Evil woman. (You're an evil woman!) Evil woman. (Such an evil woman!) Evil woman (You're an evil woman!) Evil woman (Such an evil woman!)

( They are singing this song, not me. )

I gave my soul into this man, I thought GOD took me by the hand. Built thirst in line for what's to be, I was so blind I couldn't see.

Sit around for awhile until I'm old, I made them step into the cold. No one can stop what I've begun, cause something wicked this way comes.

Something wicked this way comes (comes). Something wicked this way comes.

I dated every symphony, Blinded by love and misery. I can't erase the pain you've done, Now something wicked this way comes.

Now something wicked this way comes (comes). Now something wicked this way comes. Now something wicked this way comes (comes). Now something wicked this way comes.
