So I couldn't figure out what I could possibly write a song about. I'm not a song writer, I'm a poet. So I looked through my poems because I mean, that's all I got is a lot of poems and I found one I thought might make a good song. If anyone ever said I would be writing a song out of a poem. I would have laughed them out of the room. But that is exactly what I did. I took a poem I wrote that was originally about someone missing the one they love so desperately that they dreamed them up at night and the pillows and sheets became their body and hands touching. Wound up in these sheets all night, the imagination got carried away and the recreated their lover over and over each night ... So, this song is based on that poem called "Ghost" as listed below:

Ghost: The Poem

The nights are the worst.

so lonely.

wanting to hold you,

the pillow becomes your skin.

Arms wrapped around it,

face buried

in nonexistent raven hair

that is yours, but not yours.

arms clasped around

and folded into sheets

that in my hazy dream state

become our hands,

holding hands as we walk

in the park.

Wrapped in and around this

tear stained fabric

we kiss, and I cry

knowing you're only a ghost,

lips I created and neck I kiss made

as real as can be in your absence.

I no longer know where

you begin, and I end.

Every night

I recreate you,

wrap myself around you

tangled sheets

lost in unreciprocated desire

wrapped up in my longing

for you and only you

like a ghost,

a lonely ghost.

_______________

Phantom Embrace: The Song

Night’s a thief, it robs my breath, cold vacuum.

Memory’s clinging, soft fabric transforms tombs,

Pillowcase whisper sweet lies, your raven plume,

Dream’s illusion blooms in shadowed gloom.

Chorus

Phantom embrace, these sheets wear your name,

A ghost's smile carved deep in my shame,

Kissing the void, playing a cruel game,

Love’s echo, though nothing’s the same.

Verse 2

Tear-stained hopes weaving fiction’s tight thread,

Your scent lives rent-free up inside my head,

Hold hands in parks that we never have tread,

This bed’s my stage, where past plays dead.

Bridge

Lament slips through like light through a crack,

Promises haunt, begging me to go back,

Empty arms ache, time bends till it snaps,

Reality dissolves under these nightly attacks.

Chorus

Phantom embrace, these sheets wear your name,

A ghost's smile carved deep in my shame,

Kissing the void, playing a cruel game,

Love’s echo, though nothing’s the same.

Verse 3

Inventing lips that I’ll never truly taste,

Nonexistent skin wraps my breath in haste,

I wade through the ache, emotion misplaced,

Ghosts of what-ifs leave tracks interlaced.

Chorus

Phantom embrace, these sheets wear your name,

A ghost's smile carved deep in my shame,

Kissing the void, playing a cruel game,

Love’s echo, though nothing’s the same.

    ### 🖤 **Last words:** **Love has no color, if it does—it can be measured by the depth of the heart.** Black skin color, black tea, or black night— everything brings its own beauty, if there is a mind to see.
