Out singer, reality television star, and fashion designer On Mekahel is making a splash with his brand-new single, "Pretty Boy"—a glossy, high-energy dance anthem that’s as much a celebration of self-love as it is a nod to the glamour of nightlife. Marking a bold new chapter in his artistic evolution, "Pretty Boy" combines playful lyrics, pulsing club beats, and unapologetic confidence, offering listeners a sonic invitation to revel in their own beauty and identity.

“For as long as I can remember, all I ever wanted was to be pretty,” Mekahel confesses. “Not a doctor, not a pilot—just pretty.” What may sound like a lighthearted wish carries the weight of a deeply personal journey. After years of struggling with self-image and undergoing both internal growth and external transformation, Mekahel is now owning his power and his reflection. “People tell me I’m beautiful, sexy. I finally feel like I’ve become what I always dreamed of being.”

That sense of self-actualization pulses through every beat of "Pretty Boy". With its infectious hook and empowering message, the song transcends personal narrative to become a universal anthem of confidence. “We’re all pretty boys,” Mekahel says. “This song is for everyone. I want people to have fun, feel sexy, and dance like they own the world.”

The single’s origin story is as unfiltered as its message. Mekahel began crafting the lyrics spontaneously in his car, recording voice memos and sending more than 20 versions to producer Ido Nadjar in Europe. The song was later refined by Tel Aviv-based producer Ran Ziv, who also inspired its title by calling Mekahel “Pretty Boy”—a nickname the artist embraced so fully, he had it tattooed on his neck.

“This is my 'Pretty Boy' era,” Mekahel laughs, basking in the glow of a moment that feels both empowering and overdue. To match the song’s cheeky tone, he opted for an equally playful presentation. The single’s cover art and upcoming music video feature a stylized action figure version of Mekahel set in a Barbie-like fantasy world—a clever, tongue-in-cheek commentary on beauty standards and performative identity. “It’s a very self-centered song,” he admits. “So I wanted to balance that with some playful humility. It just made sense to go full Barbie with it.”

Despite its glam exterior, "Pretty Boy" doesn’t shy away from deeper themes. Mekahel explores self-love, body image, and the challenges of romantic loyalty within the LGBTQ+ nightlife scene. One lyric in particular (“Holding to my man so you bitches beware”) speaks directly to the couple’s shared experiences navigating social spaces where boundaries are often blurred. “In our world, people don’t always respect relationships,” he says. “So when we’re out, we literally hold each other to send a message: he’s taken.”

Cultural pride also plays a strong role in the artist’s latest work. Though often mistaken for Brazilian, Mekahel proudly identifies as Middle Eastern with Romanian roots. “I used to try and Americanize myself, but now I know my roots are my strength,” he says. That cultural richness informs both the rhythm and visual aesthetic of Pretty Boy, adding depth to his already distinctive style.

Peppered with real-life flirtations like “Why you so hot? / No you hot”, Mekahel keeps things relatable and grounded in lived experience. “That line is literally me,” he says. “It became my thing this past year.”

More than just a catchy dance track, "Pretty Boy" is a bold, shimmering declaration of self-worth and identity. It’s On Mekahel’s most confident step yet into the spotlight; a celebration of who he is, where he comes from, and who he’s become.

"Pretty Boy" is now available on all major streaming platforms.
