Nick Faye confronts the weight of his upbringing and offers a heartfelt pledge for gentler love in new single "Right Way"
A new way forward

Nick Faye, a songwriter based in Regina, Saskatchewan, on Treaty 4 Territory, has spent years turning quiet introspection into songs that gently swell with meaning. His newest single, Right Way, continues this path with an even more vulnerable edge—one that looks inward with clarity, accountability, and a promise for more tender connections in the future. Drawing from a life shaped on the Canadian Prairies, the song offers a poignant exploration of how cultural forces shaped his understanding of masculinity and how he’s worked to redefine what love means to him.
Blending elements of pop, rock, and country, Right Way simmers with emotion and intention. Its shimmering guitars and delicate keys float across a rhythm section that moves with the steady pulse of reflection. You can almost picture the song being played on a jukebox in a dimly lit bar somewhere between the endless wheat fields and the memories of youth—its melancholy never overpowering, always offering a sliver of light.
At its core, Right Way is a sincere admission. It’s Faye’s way of holding a mirror up to himself and reckoning with the traits he absorbed during his early years. As someone who grew up immersed in the culture of prairie hockey rinks, where silence, ego, and physical dominance often defined manhood, Faye is honest about the ways these norms impacted his relationships—with others and with himself. The song, while personal, opens up space for a larger conversation—about learning, unlearning, and moving forward in a way that feels more compassionate and whole.
“As a young man, there were times when I mirrored unhealthy masculine influences I was raised around, and I had to do the hard work of unlearning them,” Faye says. “This song is about granting myself grace for my past while celebrating how far I’ve come. It’s a personal commitment to always strive to love and treat others with respect, empathy, and kindness.”
These are not just words for Faye—they’re part of a journey. Right Way is the third single from his upcoming album Good Love, which is slated for release on September 26, 2025. Like much of the album, the track does not shy away from discomfort. Instead, it leans in, patiently excavating meaning from memory and inviting the listener to do the same.
Faye’s artistry has always been rooted in storytelling, something he honed during his early years in the Saskatchewan emo-acoustic-hardcore scene of the late 2000s. Sharing musical soil with artists like Andy Shauf, Foxwarren, and Northcote, Faye carries forward the spirit of that scene in his own unique way. His music is deeply tethered to place—to the sprawling quiet of the prairies, to the late-night lamplight of small-town streets, to the faded echo of something unsaid. It honors both the struggle and the slow, steady path toward something more generous.
Infused with a love of mid-90s pop rock, Faye’s songwriting feels familiar yet fresh. His melodies settle in and stay with you, the way prairie snow clings long after winter has technically passed. And just like those snowdrifts, there is something beautiful in the stillness he creates—an invitation to pause, listen, and feel.
The recording of Right Way was a collaborative effort. Produced, mixed, and recorded by Chris Dimas, the track features Nick Faye on vocals and guitar, with Byron Chambers on bass, Landon Leibel on drums, Jon Neher on keyboards, and Jesse Bryksa on guitar. The song was mastered by Ryan Morey and features original artwork by Graeme Zirk.
Right Way isn’t about being perfect—it’s about being present, honest, and open to doing better. With this release, Nick Faye doesn’t just share a song. He offers a conversation, a connection, and perhaps, a quiet step toward a more generous kind of love.
