My Autumn Soundtrack

I live in Australia, on the other side of the world to most, and here we are in our glorious ‘Spring’, but for the sake of this challenge let’s all pretend it’s ‘Autumn’ on this side of the world too.

I’ve never really lived anywhere to actually experience the changing of the trees in Autumn but thankfully we have the internet, which allows me to enjoy this wonderful phenomenon. Autumn must be a magical place in some parts of the world.

Again let’s pretend it is in my world too.

So, to start my Autumn Soundtrack, I have to travel back to my teenage years. Autumn is made for young love and beautiful heartbreaking memories. Hence why I have to include this epic song.

I often listen to this song when I want to take a trip down memory lane and visit awhile with my first love. Precious memories that have gotten me through so many bad patches in my life and this song always come along for the ride.

Wake Me Up When September Ends by Green Day

An old but classic song of the disco era, a well remembered dance track that I loved to boogie too. This piece of music always managed to put a smile on my face and get my feet tapping.

This soundtrack is rather nostalgic to me as it too is tied to many memories of my youth.

September by Earth, Wind & Fire

Anyone who knows me well, knows I’m a huge Guns n’ Roses fans, so there shouldn’t be any surprise that this song is included on my list. I had this song on record and I swear I wore a groove in that disc as I played this song over and over again.

I’ve seen this beautiful piece of music performed live a number of times but my absolute favourite was at the recent Brisbane Concert held this year. Axl Rose still has what it takes all these years later.

November Rain by Guns n’ Roses

Summer is my all time favourite season of the year and with that said, I sometimes struggle to let it go. This is why this next song is a favourite of mine, because I dream of a little more summer. I do always come around in the end and leave summer behind.

To be honest, this track is one I’ll wistfully play in the middle of winter to help me get through the dreaded cold months. A pleasant reminder that the tough times do eventually end.

A Little More Summertime by Jason Aldean

As October is the month of my birth, it does hold special meaning for me, as does this next soundtrack. The piano in this piece is so truly beautiful.

Unfortunately no recording or YouTube video can do this song any true justice. If you ever get the chance to listen to this piece live, I would suggest you do so. When I listened to it live it sent chills running across my skin. It was a truly wonderful experience I’ll never forget.

October by U2

This year I attended the fabulous Ed Sheeran’s Mathematics Tour Concert and I fell in love with this next song. Until the concert I had not heard this soundtrack before but now I know it word for word.

Ed’s music reaches in and grabs my heart in both hands and there’s not a song he’s sung that hasn’t captured my musical spirit, but this piece especially hit home the first time I heard it. To be lucky enough to experience that first time in a live concert environment is a luck I was truly blessed with.

Autumn Leaves by Ed Sheeran

Now no one can get through October without celebrating Halloween and as a Michael Jackson fan of many, many years, how can I not include the song of the century. One everyone loves……some secretly……and the film clip is a mini movie all of its own.

I’ve watched this music clip a thousand times over, I’ve danced the famous moves in the nightclubs of my youth and do so still to this day — only the venue has changed to the privacy of my lounge room — and I’ve sung the words to the song so many times they are now embedded in my soul. Truly a masterpiece of epic proportion.

Thriller by Michael Jackson

I do hope you’ve enjoyed my Autumn Soundtrack and I’d like to take the opportunity to thank Rui Alves (Medium Writer) and Rock n’ Heavy (Medium Publication) for this great challenge.

Enjoy!

Oh, and now that’s done and dusted I’m heading back to my ‘Spring’, giddy with the excitement of knowing that my ‘Summer’ is starting to turn the corner…….bring it on!

(I'm sorry you don't get to experience autumn. My Mom called it "October's bright blue weather" and we loved the fall foliage. I loved trick-or-treating through the leaves with my younger brother.) Nice, thoughtful soundtrack, Colleen. I, too, love U2 as well as Van Morrison's "Moondance" and the Moody Blues "Forever Autumn."

I love the intro to this. Gotta love Christmas in Summer here in Australia😂 I always have the urge to write about July Winters but know it will add unneeded confusion haha. Also, Wake Me Up When September Ends is a masterpiece!
