The perfect 'let the top down' summer track

To most people who have never indulged in the house music scene, the name Madeon means absolutely nothing. To me, it’s a glorified name which makes my heart race, my stomach flutter, and my spirits soar.

Madeon is a musical prodigy. He needs no introduction from me, and it’s safe to say that my ears have missed listening to his music.

He had finally broke his silence and made his long awaited return after three long years since the collaboration of “Shelter” with Porter Robinson. I went on his instagram a few days ago to see what Mr. Puuurrrfect has been up to and to my surprise, there was a colorful neon photo with a website goodfaith.world

My mind, of course, went into overdrive. I began to panic (in the best way possible) and clicked on the website. The message said:

Hey, I missed you. This is the start of the good faith era. Tomorrow morning I’ll put a song in the real world. Come back here.

Uhm, you don’t have to tell me twice, dude. I worship the ground you stumble on. I mean, I’ve seen you perform 10 times in real life, but who’s counting, right?

He released a video teasing the new song being available in only four cities: New York, Los Angeles, Alesund, and Nantes with a snippet of his new single “All My Friends” which dropped midnight Friday, May 31, 2019.

My first thought was... of course. This is so typical Madeon to release something so sacred to his heart in such a retro fashion. The marketing behind this is brilliant because it’s only available to the selected few making us devoted fans even more hungry for it.

"All My Friends" is on repeat right now. I’m infatuated. I’m speechless. I’m absolutely in love with Madeon’s iconic synth-pop beats. It’s a very ethereal track laced with elements of dance, indie and pop accompanied by catchy lyrics sung by none other than the legend himself. If I had a convertible and lived in a city with normal summer temperatures, I’d let the hood of my car down and blast this while cruising down I-90. This is the summer track we’ve been waiting for. This is the summer track we needed.

His vocals, like an old French bottle of Beaujolais, have only gotten better with time.

I find it cryptically ironic how the chorus insinuates “All my friends are watching, I can hear them talking” as if Madeon is trying to tell us he’s aware of the pressure, but he’s trekking on anyway. He’s ready to take us on this new adventure, or rather era which will introduce us to a new musical development. According to Madeon, this is the kind of music he had hoped he would make someday... and now it’s here AND MY HEART COULD NOT BE MORE FULL.

Please do yourself a favor, pour yourself a glass of the finest French wine and enjoy:
