Usually, we choose songs we like by the melody, the lyrics, and by the musical genre. I’m starting a series with songs from all kinds of genres going according to the alphabet. Here are songs with titles that begin with the letter T. Links will be posted below as we proceed through the ABCs. At the end, you’ll find the links to the songs with titles that begin with the letters A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, and S.

“The Air That I Breathe” is a beautiful romantic ballad sung by the British rock and pop band The Hollies. I have always loved its haunting melody. The song was written by British-Gibraltarian singer and songwriter Albert Hammond and Mike Hazelwood. It is featured on the band’s 1972 debut album It Never Rains in Southern California. The song charted on the UK Singles and Billboard Hot 100 charts and became a major hit.

“Take It to the Limit” is a wonderful song with lyrics I enjoy singing along to recorded by the American rock band The Eagles. It is featured on their 1975 album One of These Nights. The song charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and was written by band members Randy Meisner, Don Henley, and Glenn Frey.

Tell It to the Rain” is among my all-time favorite songs by the American rock and pop band The Four Seasons. I just love to turn up the volume and sing along to the chorus. The song was written by Mike Petrillo and Chubby Cifelli. It was recorded by the band in 1967 and charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The song “Those Were the Days” has always been a favorite and brings back many fond memories of my younger days. It began as a Russian romance song and was given English lyrics. The song was composed by Boris Fomin with words by the poet Konstantin Podrevsky. In 1968 it became the debut single for Welsh singer Mary Hopkin and was produced by Paul McCartney of The Beatles. It went to number one on the UK Singles chart and charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

“The Tears of a Clown” is a passionate and emotional song sung by the American vocal group Smokey Robinson and The Miracles/ It is on their 1967 album Make It Happen. The song was at number one on the UK Singles chart and also charted on both the Billboard Hot 100 and R&B Singles charts. In 2002 it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. The song is at number 313 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of Top 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

“Tonight’s the Night” is a romantic song with great music recorded by English singer and songwriter Rod Stewart. The song is featured on his 1976 album A Night on the Town, The song became his second US chart topper on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

“This is My Song” has great lyrics and music and is among my favorite songs recorded by British singer, songwriter, and actress Petula Clark. Originally the song was written for the film “A Countess from Hong Kong” written and directed by British actor and filmmaker Charlie Chaplin. The song was featured as an instrumental in the film. When Petula Clark recorded the song it went to number one on the UK Singles chart and was certified Silver.

“Teach Your Children” is a special song for me since my high school boyfriend would play it on his guitar and sing it. The song was written by Graham Nash. It was recorded by the rock-folk group Crosby, Stills, & Nash for their 1969 album Crosby, Stills, & Nash. In 1970 an enhanced version of the song was recorded by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and is on their album Déjà Vu. The song charted on the Billboard Hot 100 and Easy Listening charts.
