Usually, we choose songs we like by the melody, the lyrics, and by the musical genre. I’m starting a series with songs from all kinds of genres going according to the alphabet. Here are songs with titles that begin with the letter F. Links will be posted below as we proceed through the ABCs. At the end, you’ll find the links to songs with titles that begin with the letters A, B, C, D, and E.

“Fame” is a song that was written by Michael Gore and Dean Pitchford. The song was released in 1980. It became the theme song to the film “Fame” and the TV series by the same name. It was the debut single by American singer and actress Irene Cara. She portrayed the role of Coco Hernandez in the original film. The song won the Academy Award for Best Original Song and the Golden Globe Award in 1980.

“Footloose” is a song that was co-written and recorded by American singer and songwriter Kenny Loggins. In 1984 it was the first of two singles released from the film of the same name. The song rose to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and became Loggins’ only chart-topper.

“Fire” is a song that was written and recorded by American singer and songwriter Bruce Springsteen. It is on his 2010 album Promise. This song is among his best songs.

“Forever In Blue Jeans” is a song that was co-written by American singer and songwriter Neil Diamond and Richard Bennett. It was recorded by Diamond in 1979 and is on his album You Don’t Bring Me Flowers. The song charted on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Easy Listening charts. This song remains a favorite among Diamond fans. In 1979 a country version of the song was recorded by American country singer Tommy Overstreet and is on his album I’ll Never Let You Down.

“Firelake” is a song that was written and recorded by American singer and songwriter Bob Seger. It is on his 1980 album Against the Wind. The song charted on the Billboard Hot 100 and Cash Box charts. In 1981 a live version of the song is featured on the album Nine Tonight. Three members of the American rock band The Eagles Glenn Frey, Don Henley, and Timothy B. Schmit provided backing vocals for this track.

“Faithless Love” is a song that was written by American singer and actor J.D. Souther. It was first recorded and released by American singer Linda Ronstadt. The song is featured on her 1974 album Heart Like a Wheel. Souther recorded the song in 1976 and it is on his album Black Rose. American country singer Glen Campbell recorded his version in 1984 and the song is on his album Letter to Home.

“Follow You Follow Me” is a song that was written and recorded by the English rock band Genesis. It came out as the first single from their album …And Then There Were Three in 1978. The band composed the music and the bassist and guitarist Mike Rutherford wrote the lyrics. The song charted on the Billboard Hot 100, Cash Box, Adult Contemporary, and UK Singles charts.

“Funny Face” is a song that was written and recorded by American country music singer Donna Fargo. It came out in 1972 and is the second single from her album The Happiest Girl in the Whole USA. The song rose to number one on the country charts and became a Gold Record. It became a crossover hit to the pop chart and became Fargo’s only Top Ten Hit on the Hot 100 chart.
