Usually, we choose songs we like by the melody, the lyrics, and by the musical genre. I’m starting a series with songs from all kinds of genres going according to the alphabet. Here are songs with titles that begin with the letter B. Links will be posted below as we proceed through the ABCs. At the end, you’ll find the link to the songs with titles that begin with the letter A.
“Baby Blue” is a song that was recorded by the Welsh rock band Badfinger. It is on their 1971 album Straight Up. The song was written by Pete Ham. The song charted on the Billboard 100 chart as a single in the US in 1972. The song was once again featured in 2013 in the series finale of the popular TV show “Breaking Bad”. At this time it charted on the UK Singles chart.
“Beautiful Boy” is a song that was written and recorded by English singer, songwriter, and musician John Lennon. It is featured on the 1980 album double fantasy which is the last album released before his death.
“Bad Moon Rising” is a song that was written by band member John Fogerty and recorded by American rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival. It was the lead single from their 1969 album Green River. The song charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and went to number one on the UK Singles chart. It is ranked at number 364 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
“Bitter Sweet Symphony” is a song that was recorded by the English rock band The Verve. It is featured on their 1997 album Urban Hymns. The song charted on the UK Singles chart and on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song is considered to be one of the defining songs of the Britpop Era. The music video of the song shows band member Ashcroft walking in Hoxton, London, and other band members join him.
“Blue Bayou” is a song that was written by American singer and songwriter Roy Orbison and Joe Melson. Orbison recorded the song in 1963 and it became an international hit. A favorite version of the song was recorded by American singer Linda Ronstadt and it became her signature song in 1977. The song was later featured on Orbison’s 1989 posthumous album A Black & White Night Live.
“Brilliant Disguise” is a song that was recorded by American singer and songwriter Bruce Springsteen. It is on his 1987 album Tunnel of Love and was released as the first single from the album. The song charted on the Billboard Hot 100 and Mainstream Rock charts. The song ranked at number 1192 best songs of all time, number 27 best songs of 1987, and number 214 best songs of the 1980s.
“Build Me Up Buttercup” is a song that was written by Mike d’Abo and Tony Macaulay. The song was recorded by the British soul band The Foundations in 1968. The song charted on the Billboard Hot 100 and Cash Box charts. It was certified Gold by the RIAA. In 1998 the song was featured in the romantic comedy “There’s Something About Mary” and the episode Art Imitates Art in the fourth season of the TV detective series “Elementary”.
“Born to Be Wild” is a song that was written by Mars Bonfire. It was recorded by the Canadian-American rock band Steppenwolf. It is featured on the band’s debut album Steppenwolf and became their most successful single. The song was featured in the 1969 film “Easy Rider”. It has been described as the first heavy metal song. Rolling Stone magazine ranked the song at number 129 on the list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. In 2009 it was named the 53rd-best hard rock song of all time by VH1. In 2018 the song was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in a new category for singles.
