Lil Goodie — Bringing the American Drill rap and UK Drill rap together

Goodnews Ayichi, famously known as Lil Goodie, is a professional musical artist and songwriter from Baltimore, Maryland.

What makes you different as a person and as an artist?

What makes me different as person is my ability to stay humble. I never feel like I’ve made it or that I’m better than the next man. When you have the mentality that you have not made it yet and you have so much more to learn gives you the motivation to work even harder. The reason why I feel that I’m not better than the next person is because when you feel that you’re at the top you can lose it all in an instant. Everyone moves at their own pace, so, being rude to people about their life goals is not morally right. What also makes me different as person is my ability to support whoever is close to me. I really try to be fully invested in their endeavors. I try to invest monetarily as well if I can. As an artist I’m different because I try to make music that anyone listening in any country will be able to gravitate towards. The music creates an atmosphere where anyone would want to dance and have fun. There has been so much exclusiveness in this world, and I want to find ways to mitigate that. I want my music to create inclusiveness with other countries. The UK has inspired my style, but I also put my own spin to it.

What do you want to accomplish in life?

I want to be able to give my all of family members houses that they don’t need to pay for. I also want to build a hospital in Nigeria because I was born there. I see the turmoil that they go through and really get upset. The lack of medical structure breaks my heart. When I’ve reached complete financial freedom, I will start building a hospital there. I also want to become a great mainstream artist that is recognized for talent. This year I want my first single “Pull Up Hop Out” to receive 500,000 streams. Each song that I release I want to also have about 250,000 streams across the board. I also want to get married one day with someone that truly understands how hard I’m working. I want to be able to support them in anything they desire to pursue. The ability to provide for my family is a goal that I strive to accomplish.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I see myself being a mainstream artist in the music industry. I also see me creating a big bridge between the UK drill scene and the US drill scene. I see myself making songs with Digga D and Russ Millions. I also see myself having the opportunity to start paying for my sister’s college tuition and help my parent with retirement. I also want to move to Atlanta, which I will do in about in about 3-5 years. In addition, I think that I will have created opportunities for my family and friends in the music industry. In the music industry it has gotten easier to create a viral moment but harder to create a legacy. Legacy matters, and it takes one person to start a legacy.

What do you bring to the music world?

I bring a new genre to Drill music, Dancehall drill. You can dance to with your friends and at gala nights. I was asked, “why does your music have a jumpy feel? It does not feel like your traditional aggressive rap, why so? I said, “I want people to have fun when they listen to my music. I want everyone to be able to like my music regardless of your age. Even if you don’t really get what I’m saying, just the vibes of the song holistically will make you want to dance and enjoy yourself.

What legacy do you want to leave behind?

I wish to leave behind a legacy of positivity and good energy. I really don’t like making sad songs because music has a big effect on people’s outward perspective on life. The more I can make people dance and have fun at parties brings a good energy into the universe.
