Keyth Jones Channels Vintage Garage Rock Fire on New Release "Run To Me"
A raw and electric homage to 1960's garage rock.

Few artists embrace the restless spirit of rock & roll quite like Keyth Jones.
With a career spanning from intimate acoustic sets to avant-rock experimentation and psychedelic folk, Jones has always followed his own compass.
His latest single “Run to Me” is both a throwback and a revelation - a full-throttle garage rock anthem that feels like it was ripped from the grooves of a long-lost ‘60s 45.

Jones’ journey through music first emerged in the late ‘90s, setting binders of high school poetry to music and delivering raw, aggressive acoustic performances at local coffeehouses across western Maryland and the West Virginia panhandle.
His songs straddled the line between golden oldies and grunge, hinting at an artist with both deep roots and a restless creative streak.
In the early 2000s, he co-founded Pläns Pläns, an alt/indie/noise/avant-rock band that leaned into experimental soundscapes and unconventional structures. The band released two albums over its eight-year run, making waves in the Maryland underground music scene. Jones then took another sharp turn in 2011, forming Fractal Cat, a psychedelic folk-rock outfit that quickly became a staple in Baltimore’s vibrant music community. With three albums, steady radio play as well as East Coast performances alongside acts like Cris Jacobs and Rising Appalachia, Fractal Cat cemented Jones’ reputation as a versatile songwriter and performer.
But after a two-year musical hiatus, shaped by love, a global pandemic and the cold mountain air of his new surroundings, Jones found himself returning to music with a fresh perspective.
His upcoming "Love Yourself" EP captures the latest chapter in his musical evolution, balancing quirky romanticism with a wide-ranging palette that includes garage rock, soul and bluegrass.
“Run to Me” was born out of a jam session in 2022, with Jones’ wife on drums and a newly rekindled love for electric guitar pushing him forward.
“I wanted to write a rocker that paid homage to the ‘60s garage bands I grew up obsessing over,” Jones recalls.
As a teenager, he and a close friend would spend hours scouring record store bargain bins, hunting for obscure ‘60s garage rock singles that had been all but forgotten by history. “It was like a competition to see who could find the most obscure relic,” he says. “Then we’d go back to his basement and just rock out. We always felt like we were the only people in the world who cared about this stuff.”
That passion for the raw, unfiltered energy of early garage rock runs through every second of “Run to Me.” The song kicks off with an electrifying rush. Bright, biting guitars, a relentless rhythm section, and Jones’s impassioned, feverish vocals pushing forward at full speed. It echoes the spirit of classic Nuggets-era bands, where imperfections weren’t flaws but rather proof of a song’s authenticity and urgency.
Despite its loose and high-energy feel, “Run to Me” was anything but easy to record. In fact, Jones calls it the hardest track on the EP to get right. The guitars, in particular proved to be a challenge, requiring multiple takes and adjustments before the sound matched his vision.
Enter producer and engineer Miles Gannett, who played a pivotal role in shaping the final version of the track. “Major credit goes to my engineer and producer Miles Gannett for all the time spent getting the details just right," says Jones.
“Run to Me” serves as the centerpiece of Jones’ upcoming Love Yourself EP. Initially, he considered making the entire EP a garage rock tribute, but ultimately decided to mix things up.
With the release of Love Yourself on the horizon, Jones is stepping fully into his own. Whether he’s channeling the spirit of vintage garage rock, creating ballads, or diving into the next experimental sound, one thing is clear: Keyth Jones is far from done exploring.
