J-Hope’s Lollapalooza 2022 performance Reaction.
A Dazzling Display of Talent and Hard Work.

J-Hope’s Lollapalooza performance was *insane*. Like, the glowing light sticks from the crowd were so beautiful. It looked like a whole galaxy was vibing with him.
His entrance? *ICONIC*. Why did that give me goosebumps lol. That slow build-up,he came out with, just owning that stage like it was made for him.
His fit was fire too—that all-black outfit with the edgy details, he looked effortlessly cool, it gave me bad boy vibes lol🫦.
First of all, the fact that this man was rapping without backing vocals is crazy! That alone made me respect him so much as a performer. That mike was ON!
The annoying backing vocals in rappers' live performances are honestly the reason I’ve never had a desire to see rappers live. Even the greatest rappers that I respect use the backing vocals, and it always pisses me off, lol.Kendrick and now J hope are actually the only rappers I’ve seen perform without backing vocals. I love artists that aren’t lazy.
I loved that he kicked things off with “MORE”, and let me tell you, that song is hard. The live energy of that track is on another level. Those drums came in heavy,it felt like they were shaking the whole place—seriously, they added this gritty, raw intensity to the track that made it even more powerful.
The performance of “HANGSANG”was my favorite. That song is fire, and his aura while performing it was everything. Like i was smiling the whole time watching him. Everything about that song and performance was so cool!
When he sang "Piece of Peace" and then went straight into "Equal Sign"—OMG, my heart can't take it! Those songs are definitely some of his most beautiful tracks. And the transition from Equal Sign to STOP was FLAWLESS.
And then "Arson" came on—man, the flames on stage were everything. His breath control is next-level—How on earth is he doing all of that on stage and still sound flawless without any backing vocals. Like, how does he even do that? I would have passed out lol.
This man is a performer!
Oh and he is a dancer too?? I think I’ve heard the Dynamite somewhere. I don’t remember where but I’ve definitely heard it before. He came out with such charisma, and his dance moves were on point—like, how does he make it look so effortless? I loved how vibrant the colorful set for this performance was.It made the whole performance feel like a party.
You could just see how much fun he was having, and it made me want to dance along, even though I was just watching from my screen lol. The crowd’s excitement was infectious, and J-Hope's energy was seriously contagious. “Dynamite” felt like such a feel-good anthem.
I was so excited to see Becky G, even though I don’t know the song. I used to love her a few years back! Her and J-Hope’s chemistry on stage was electric. It was fun and infectious. I thought the choreo for this song was funny; is the song about chicken noodles, lol?
Overall, watching it felt like an experience. The way J-Hope connected with the audience, his confidence, and the pure hype in the air was unreal. I was even more impressed when I realized this performance was in America.Performing in a foreign country where the primary language isn’t your own has to be nerve-racking. But he handled it like a pro, connecting with the crowd effortlessly and bringing the energy up to another level.
His songs speak for themselves, even though majority of his songs are in a different language, it’s not hard to understand him musically or emotionally. Looking up translations to understand more is an extra layer of the experience rather than hindrance of enjoyment
Watching this performance from home gave me major FOMO! Like, seeing all those fans living their best lives while I’m stuck here on my couch was painful. I couldn't help but imagine how incredible it would’ve been to be in that crowd, vibing with everyone and experiencing the hype in person. The man truly knows how to put on a show.
In conclusion
🗣️“I wish I could be a
Piece of peace”

😭you're not alone. I'm always so jealous of the Army who got to see them perform in person. They perform like they're dirt poor and their life depends on it. They truly love what they do and it shows.
Your enthusiasm is quite infectious. Congrts.
Congratulations on placing first on this week's leaderboard for Best Emerging Creator!
I'm always so happy when people watch this performance and comment on how enthusiastic the crowd was because I was there! This was one of the greatest musical performances I've ever witnessed and I'll never be able to fully describe what it was like to be in the audience that night. The air felt electric - I've never been a crowd with quite that level of energy before
Cindy, I've been enjoying all your essays about your Bangtan journey and just subscribed. Forgive me for forgetting to do that! This "Hobipalooza" performance was beyond incredible, and it's something I go back to time and time again. "Hangsang" was definitely a showstopping moment, but his entire set was just so incredible, and all of ARMY were so proud of Hobi. I can't wait to see what you'll be checking out next!
I remember that the announcement of his release was only 15 days before and he had just released his solo album Jack in the box! and he was the first of the group to release an album and the first to perform alone. Army of the world left for Chicago to support him. He became very skinny from the stress of the presentation and Jimin was behind him supporting him. You can watch Behind the scenes on Bangtan tv on Youtube. There were millions online loving him. And Dinamyte hopes to see the 7 breaking out like Dinamyte -> Boom.
