“Respect” is a song that was recorded by the American soul singer and songwriter Otis Redding. Later it was rearranged by the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin. It turned out to be one of her biggest hits and signature song. Franklin’s version became a feminist anthem for the second-wave feminism movement in the 1970s. It earned her two Grammy Awards for Best Rhythm & Blues Recording and Best Rhythm & Blues Solo Vocal Performance, Female. In 1987 it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
