It’s of course a shame when anyone at the age of twenty-two has to fight for his or her life, but it is especially tragic when this figure was just about to launch into a positive position.

ZeeTheWizard had just inked a deal to be part of Future’s Freebandz imprint. Now, he is struggling to grasp onto life. After a gunshot wound to the head and dozens of false posts that reported that Zee had been killed. It seems like the up and coming rapper will have to be attended to with the most advanced medicine available.

Zee had the slave chains and the hot single “Chevy” and was poised to propel his life and career to new heights. He, however, is in the hospital instead of the booth or on stage.

All of the ways he could have been spared this sad news have resurfaced. He actually performed on New Year’s Eve at Pink House in his hometown of Dallas, Texas. That’s why there’s no love in these streets. It's to protect your neck or be the next one on that news clip or obituary column.

The new streets, Web platforms, show the same results. There’s very little difference in the approach of the hood mentality and the essence of the Internet.

From Zee’s perspective, it would appear as though this is a harbinger for other rappers who wish to sign but maybe could have stayed out of the ‘hood. Why didn’t he perform in Jackson Hole, Wyoming? Why couldn’t he perform in San Juan, Puerto Rico?

Now, this apparently was an altercation where four shots rang out in the air.

It’s such a horrific and classic situation where a rapper isn’t safe on his or her own stomping grounds. Of course there are exemptions like PNB Rock and the Notorious BIG and Tupac. But there has been Nipsey Hussle among others who have fallen in their hometowns.

As of this writing, Zee is still in the land of the living. But the idea of young black men being gunned down and either succumb or survive from the hail of bullets. That’s the monstrous idealism of the rap genre. No one tamps down their feelings and allows them to go away.

Instead, they draw their weapons and blast, never considering employing reason. This is the worst side of rap. No matter what happens, they try to keep their guns high to see the reality of death devices used rather than rationality.

If something should be taken away from Zee’s life, it should be that he’s combatting death in order to extend his money line and support the people who have aided thus far.

He should be made an example to new rappers, especially, that you don’t have to be in your past area without uplifting it. That’s the reality that should be exemplified by all of these hip hoppers. There exist countless places where they can get money from their efforts.

It is disgusting to consider the amount of attacks over the years. So many promising talents have been laid down despite the fact that homicides nationwide have fallen in past decades.

Zee, to pull through would need to keep the idea of stopping the irrational and embracing the thoughtful. This is not an issue of whether rappers should be carrying guns. They should if they legally can. It is an issue about how thinking must replace emotion.

There’s too much money on the floor for these mostly young men of color to get. Don’t put down the gun but pick up an Ayn Rand book to read and understand.

It seems history is always doomed to repeat itself, no matter where we are. It will be if we don't learn from the past. Voices of reason, so needed amongst them all, hope he recovers.
