The artist known for raw bilingual rap drops the “Lil” — and with it, a new era begins.

Every artist reaches a point where evolution becomes necessary. For Lil Passion, that moment is now.

After more than a decade building a name in both English and Spanish rap scenes, the independent artist born Jonathan Rojas is officially dropping the “Lil.” Going forward, he will simply go by Pasion—a bold, symbolic move that marks a new era of artistic growth, creative clarity, and personal evolution.

The first release under the new name, a powerful single titled “Dichos,” will drop on July 4, 2025.

This isn’t a gimmick. It’s not a marketing stunt. It’s not about rebranding for clicks or jumping on a trend. This is real. This is transformation. The “Lil” in Lil Passion represented a young kid navigating life, culture, and identity with nothing but pain, hunger, and a notebook full of verses. But that version of him has evolved. The work got deeper. The message got sharper. The music matured. Dropping the “Lil” is more than cosmetic—it’s spiritual.

“This is bigger than a name,” says Pasion. “Removing the ‘Lil’ isn’t just about sounding more serious. It’s about honoring how far I’ve come and how much more I expect from myself now. I want the name to reflect who I am today—not who I was when I started writing songs in my bedroom as a teenager.”

For longtime listeners, this isn’t surprising. Pasion has always pushed himself. From recording and mixing his own songs, to shooting and editing his own music videos, to managing his own tour bus across the country—he’s done it all without a label, a team, or a shortcut. Every step has been built on self-discipline, sacrifice, and the refusal to quit.

What separates Pasion from the noise is that he’s never tried to fit in. His bilingual bars aren’t for show—he switches between English and Spanish because that’s how he lives, how he thinks, how he feels. His art reflects the complexity of growing up between cultures, between borders, between identities. And he makes it work without watering any of it down.

Now, with “Dichos,” he’s opening a new chapter—not just in sound, but in mindset. The track is expected to explore themes of inherited wisdom, cultural pressure, emotional healing, and personal accountability. The title, “Dichos,” refers to Spanish sayings or proverbs—those common phrases that carry generations of advice, warnings, and tradition. But instead of repeating them blindly, Pasion digs into them. He questions what they mean. He asks how they’ve shaped who we are and who we’re allowed to become.

“This song is about growth, but it’s also about listening—really listening—to the things we’re taught and how they live inside us,” he says. “I wanted this to be the first thing I released under the name Pasion because it’s intentional. It sets the tone. It’s everything I stand for.”

The release date wasn’t picked at random either. July 4th is known as America’s Independence Day. But for Pasion, it’s also a declaration of his creative independence—a public shift away from old labels, past chapters, and any idea that he’s still “on the come-up.” This isn’t a reset. It’s a reintroduction.

And let’s be clear—nothing essential is being left behind. That emotional rawness, that lyrical integrity, that hunger? Still there. The change isn’t about leaving something—it’s about stepping fully into it. It’s about showing up as the artist he’s grown into: sharper, wiser, and more fearless than ever.

This isn’t just the next step in a career. It’s a statement. A moment. A name earned—not given.

This is Pasion.
