Indie Music
Hey! My name is Elizabeth Hunt! This is my first post on Vocal and I wanted to share with you what my page is going to be about. I will write about music, album reviews, and movie reviews. Everything I review will fall under the category of "indie" because that's the style I enjoy. I don't think I'll put an explanation under all of them but the one's I'm really passionate about I will.

The 'List: 80s Movie Hits
Hello one and all. So, here we are! A "new" 'list. My buddy Calvin 'Oates' Cherry and I have been forthright about our passion for music and here is a new format now. In this 'list, we won't just profile artists of the 1980s, or any singular decade in one extended entry posting. This is a 'list that will now encompass artists, groups, and even musical genres of all decades and yes, even specific set years. Here's the first of the list that highlights a once popular staple of the Cabbage Patch Kid/ Rubik's Cube/ Pac-Man decade: The movie soundtrack.

8EEZ Playlist: Tom Petty (R.I.P.)
"And I'm Free. Free Fallin'." Hello, one and all. First, an announcement. The 8EEZ Playlist will be no more after this. After much consideration, my buddy Calvin "Oates" Cherry have decided to drop the stylized, "8EEZ" moniker (though fun it was) and we're going to just call it "The 'List" from now on. This is so we can add and encompass artists and music genres in our lists from all decades: 7EEZ, 9EEZ, etc. We figured that the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, and yes, even the 10s, all deserve a shout.

5 Bands You Need to Listen To
Finding a new band to get into with is almost never easy, unless you actually pay attention to the recommendations Apple Music, Spotify, or any other platform may give you. But most of the time they don't ever recommend the good stuff from a band or they give you one that you never want to see. EVER. With that being said, here I am to give you FIVE bands that you should definitely check out right now.

8EEZ Playlist: Richard Marx
"It don't mean nothin' till you sign it on the dotted line" Hello again and welcome to our little fun 'list. This artist is a "cherry pick" indeed. My buddy Calvin "Oates" Cherry has seen this artist numerous times in concert (he's seen him seven times) and he is a lifelong fan. Don't believe me? Here's the proof.

8EEZ Playlist: U2. Top Story - September 2017.
"It's alright, it's alright, it's alright. She moves in mysterious ways." Hello, one and all. This one's a special list, as it profiles a band that both my BFF, Oates, and I love. They're a band from Dublin, Ireland who had already established themselves as stars in their native UK, but took awhile to make a stronger dent here in the states — and it happened exactly 30 years ago!

8EEZ Playlist: Phil Collins
"It's just another day for you and me, in paradise." Hello, and thanks for reading! This spotlight artist is a personal favorite of mine. I remember hearing his haunting smash ballad, "Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)" back in 1984, and literally crying my eyes out. Mind you, I was only a mere 12 years old, but, the voice, the melody and the poignant urgency of the song touched me quite deeply. I made it a point to buy up all his records from that point on. I did just that and have been a lifelong fan ever since, even despite the worries that he's now "Old Hat." It was also to my incredible joy that he was also the lead singer of one of my favorite 80s rock group: Genesis. Yes...they are due for a future 'list very soon. Meantime. Me and my buddy Oates will share this latest 'list of one Philip David Charles Collins of West London, UK.

7 Good Songs From Awful Bands
So, maybe I was a little too harsh on Alice Cooper. Maybe I was a little too harsh on Green Day. Oh, well. Now, I would like to focus on the opposite side of the spectrum, so on this list I will be taking a look at 7 songs that I personally feel are pretty good, if not great, from bands that, well... aren't. Like the last list I will attempt to avoid deep cuts and primarily focus on songs that were fairly popular. Also, like the last list this is again just my own personal opinion, so don't get your knickers in a twist... or something. A couple of these songs are even some of my favorites ever. Yes, really. So with that in mind, let's begin:

7 Haunting Songs About Death
Happiness be damned. While the occasional pop banger does a lot towards keeping one's psyche blissfully aloft, one simply can't escape the existence of a universe saturated by music that explores the dark and inevitable subject of death. While some try to avoid the topic, many are consistently drawn to it. Whether it be a realization of one's own inevitable fate, or his/her own experiences with the demise of others, the concept of death is one that has continued to fascinate the artist as well as the listener since, well, as long as music has existed. This list is by no means a list of the greatest songs to take on the topic, but are certainly ones that stand out to me.
