If playlists are the ultimate currency of coolness, we're your virtual treasury.
Suave YourSelf
Admittedly, this will not be immediately cathartic. It will be more of a suave-yourself-up-to-go-out-with-the-girls-and-the-gays feeling. Post-pandemic, of course. This playlist (listen here) is truly meant for anyone hyping themselves up, either for a night on the town or grooving by yourself, but either way dancing needs to be involved. Listen to this straight through, starting when you start getting yourself ready for the night.

The Mixtape for the Masochist who Loves Love and is Trying to Love on Themselves More
I took that picture a couple months into quarantine walking home from work when I was holding onto a not-so-thought-out goal of finding love in a pandemic. (To be completely honest, I took the photo in September but the explanation of my sentiment early on in quarantine life is accurate.) I even went as far to make the claim that February 14, 2021 would be my first year having a Valentine. Grandiose dramatic proclamations that I have pledged to stop making. I am sitting here on the aforementioned world-renowned date typing this so your educational guess about my relationship status is accurate. Also the subtitle is exposing my reality in plain sight.

Not Your Valentine
What is love - Haddaway This is the song that is the beginning of everything. We want love but we don't want to get hurt as we have always been told that love is pain, love hurts and love is hard. This song is literally the prayer of not getting hurt in love - "Please don't be like everyone who played me".

The Playlist of Anti-Feels
So, I know that I can be a bit of a drag when it comes to Valentine's day, but maybe it's because... welp, I don't have a significant other, and I really just don't care for the Lover's Holiday. For me, it's my younger sister's Birthday, so that's what I celebrate. Growing up with this Holiday as her birthday at first was a little strange, but I then realize that maybe this isn't so bad. But then, when no one showed up at her Birthday party, that was where I started to hate the holiday. I know it's the "Day of Love", but no one had the time to at least stop by for her Birthday. And even when I moved away from my hometown, away from her to pursue my own dreams, I always felt like Valentine's Day was my sister's Birthday, and even now.

I Want To Be Left Alone
I will admit straight up, I am not single. However, I was single for so many years that the feeling has never gone completely away, even though I know that guy I see every morning, and I'm married to, isn’t going anywhere. A part of me is still single.

The Other Side of Love with The Beatles: An Anti-Valentine's Day Playlist. Top Story - February 2021.
The Beatles became famous with their simple, saccharine tunes about love. ‘I Want to Hold Your Hand’, ‘She Loves You’, ‘Love Me Do’, and ‘From Me To You’ not only brought them fame, it also showed that few bands were better when it came to encapsulating the joyous feeling of love within the confines of a three-minute pop song.

Until The Love Songs Kill My Soul
I'm So In Love I’m a hopeless romantic. Most love songs speak my story. Most of them were specifically written for me. Their soothing words and melody bring heaven beneath my feet. With love songs, I cannot only hear but see, smell, taste, and feel love.

A Disney Valentine's Day Survival Playlist
Confession Time: I love Valentine's Day. I know that for someone of my romantic categories, namely single, a virgin and no one's Valentine, this is an extremely unpopular opinion. However, think about it, the wine and chocolate are on sale at the grocery store, Netflix releases a bunch of painfully bad romcoms AND restaurants have a ton of two-for-one specials that we perpetually-single folk can benefit from. Sounds like a win to me! Maybe it's the fact that my default setting is single or that I don't have the experience of ever being in a relationship but my perspective on Valentine's Day is decidedly positive. My Valentine's Routine typically involves preparing myself dinner, washing my hair, putting on a face mask and tucking in to enjoy Disney Movies which are my guilty pleasure.

covid ruined our valentine's day. here's my coping playlist. . First Place in Anti-Valentine's Day Playlist Challenge. Top Story - February 2021.
I've been on Earth for twenty-two years, and never in my life have I experienced a good Valentine's Day. I don't seem to mesh with the holiday. In elementary school, kids celebrated by handing out candies...which was cool until you realized those candies were Nerds or nasty conversation hearts that taste like chalk. In high school, all my besties had boyfriends save for me. Valentine's Day was the one day a year I couldn't hang with them after school.

Anti-Valentine's Day Playlist
I made an anti-Valentine's Day playlist last year, and I'm making another one this year. WHY? Because it fucking sucks! If you're single the entire first half of February is filled with "meals for two" advertisements, aisles in shops full of lovey-dovey cringy cards and engagement announcements and couples posting Instagram captions with "we've had our ups and downs but I still love you" and EWWW!
