Avarex NJ – Likeee Really (Review)
I’ve been following Avarex NJ for a while now, and every time he drops, I can’t help but feel like he’s one of the most overlooked artists in New Jersey hip-hop. The man is consistent, whether it’s music, visuals, or content , yet his name doesn’t come up in the same conversations as other Jersey talents who haven’t matched his level of output. The reality is, Avarex has been doing the work, and the work speaks for itself. Likeee Really is just another reminder of how unapologetically he’s been putting on for his city. This is a release from last year , but it hit my radar last week.
When Summer Jam 2025 rolled into Jersey this year, I couldn’t help but think Avarex should’ve been on that lineup. He’s the type of artist who has paid his dues with music that connects, and visuals that elevate the culture. That absence said more about the industry politics than his artistry. This is exactly why Likeee Really hits the way it does , it’s not just a party record, it’s Avarex telling his truth in the middle of a beat that feels like a Jersey club and hip-house hybrid.
His last full project, Ava Iverson, compared him to the disruptive and fearless nature of Allen Iverson. Just like A.I., Avarex doesn’t play by the rules , he bends them, challenges them, and thrives in spite of them. That project showed his rogue mentality; Likeee Really sharpens it into something more direct. Where Rookie of the Year captured his emotions, Likeee Really is him saying, this is who I am, this is what I’ve done, and this is why my city can’t ignore me.
Track Review: Likeee Really

On first listen, Likeee Really feels like a Jersey club x hip-house banger, something that sounds like it could’ve been produced by MC Vertt with its synthesized beat and pulsing energy. The production is infectious, with a beat so strong it almost overshadows the message tucked inside. But Avarex manages to balance the bounce with statements that cut through, this is a record that lives in the party, but speaks beyond it.
Take the line: “Forget doing fine / I just want great / I just wanna take my girl on a date.” At face value, it sounds simple, but that’s the brilliance. Avarex isn’t content with mediocrity, he’s striving for greatness while still wanting the simple joys of life, like treating his girl right. It’s a humanizing bar, stripping away the rapper bravado and showing us a man who wants more but doesn’t forget what actually matters. Then there’s the line: “Man I rather just go get it dolo / I be rapping myself like a solo.” This is the essence of Avarex , self-reliant, unafraid to move alone if he has to, and perfectly comfortable being the one-man machine driving his career forward. That’s not just a flex; it’s a survival statement, the mark of an artist who’s had to carve his path without co-signs or industry handouts.
The hook seals it: “Like really / I ain’t been repping my city / I been giving game like Gilly.” Avarex is calling out the fact that he’s been putting on for Jersey, whether or not people want to admit it. The Gilly reference drives the point home: he’s not just repping, he’s teaching, inspiring, and setting examples. That unapologetic energy is what makes this record different from Rookie of the Year. This isn’t about what he feels, it’s about what he is.

Scoring Breakdown
Beats: 8/10 – The beat is the driving force here. It’s energetic, synth-heavy, and gives the track its identity. Honestly, it’s so strong it almost overshadows the message, but that’s the trade-off for a record designed to make the club shake.
Lyrics: 6/10 – This isn’t a lyrical showcase, and it’s not meant to be. Avarex is speaking plainly, directly, in a way that matches the record’s party energy. It’s about messaging, not metaphors.
Concepts: 5/10 – The concept is simple: Avarex repping Jersey while keeping it danceable. It’s not groundbreaking conceptually, but it’s executed with purpose.
Rollout: 6/10 – Without a major rollout to measure, I can’t grade this fairly. Still, Avarex’s consistent content drops make me confident he’ll deliver visuals that boost the record’s impact.
Replay Value: 7/10 – This is the kind of track you spin at a party or in the car on a Friday night. The beat ensures it doesn’t get old too quickly, and the hook sticks.
Total Music Score — 7.5/10
By the time I finished sitting with Likeee Really, I couldn’t shake the thought that Avarex is one of the most consistent and overlooked artists in Jersey right now. He’s not chasing trends; he’s making records that reflect who he is, what he stands for, and what his city means to him. That balance of being disruptive and grounded, party-driven but message-heavy, is rare.
The fact that he wasn’t on the Summer Jam lineup in his own state this year still feels like a miss. New Jersey has been waiting for an artist to unapologetically put on for the culture while still sounding fresh and versatile, and Avarex has been doing exactly that. Likeee Really feels like his reminder to everyone who’s been sleeping that his time is overdue.
Avarex NJ doesn’t just make music , he builds narratives you can dance to, lines you can relate to, and moments that make you stop and think. Like Allen Iverson breaking ankles while changing the game, Avarex is here to shift the Jersey rap scene on his own terms. And records like Likeee Really are why he deserves that spotlight, not next year, but right now.
