Over twenty years ago, due to gambling debts, Ji Pingjiang had a dispute with debt collectors. He wielded a knife and inflicted serious injuries on two individuals and minor injuries on three others. While fleeing in his vehicle, he crashed into the sea and vanished without a trace. Despite days of police salvage operations, only the wreckage of his minivan was recovered; Ji Pingjiang's body was never found.
