On The Stairs
The last period tardy bell was about to ring however, Madison was still lingering on the stairway. She dreads this class. She is a senior and she needs to make an A in this class. Hesistantly, she makes herself get up and head to class. Her parents are counting on her getting into Harvard, Personally, she wants to attend the local university. She does not want to leave her boo, Travis, who is planning to attend the local university. Travis goes to another high school in the city. They met a rival basketball game a year ago.

The Educator in Me
My name is Helen, known to my learners and parents as Ms. Helen. I have always wanted to teach. My seven year old version of me begun teaching my younger siblings. My parents would solicit me to be the home work helper when they were too busy to do so. I had some non cooperative students but my parents made sure they were at least half way compliant. My passion was reading and writing as an elementary student. I loved to teach others to read and write. When I turned sixteen, I got a job working in a child care setting during the summer which further cultivated my passion of teaching.

Christmas with Corey
Five days before Christmas 2020, I was busy like always, rushing and shopping. This Christmas was not expected to be any different from the last two Christmases. The family would gather at my oldest sister's house on Christmas day. Ella was married with two children and a wonderful husband. They met in college and had been married for five years. My parents had passed. There is Ella, Gina, James and myself left in the immediate family circle. James is still in college and Gina is a nun. I am a single 26 year old living alone in a condo.

The Unsat Chair
I spent lots of summers on my grandparent's farm when I was growing up. There was one thing that was always undisturbed. It was a sky blue chair that sat right in front of the storage house on the property. All of the grand children called it 'the unsat chair.' As long as I can remember, no one ever got away with sitting in it. If one dared to place their bottom in it, they would immediately be reprimanded. Grandma Clara made sure that the chair had due respect. As time passed, the chair was never revitalized. The vibrant blue color slowly peeled off. The lavender colored background slowly begun to shed over time. This story will tell you why the chair had been set aside for years.
