Concerning the appropriation of "Black Fatigue"
Effective immediately, I quit. Consider this the moment I step out of the cage you keep mistaking for a conference room, a committee, or whatever sanitized pen you cage diversity into so you can pat yourselves on the back. I’m done donating my peace of mind to your quarterly reports, photo ops, and carefully curated panel discussions that pretend at progress while strip-mining every ounce of my lived experience. Effective right now, I’m cashing out spiritually, emotionally, and professionally. I’m cashing out from an arrangement that has never paid for what it’s owed. If I’m such a burden, then by all means ignore me.

'Carmen Jones,' The Fiery Musical That Redefined a Genre
There’s nothing soft or easy about Carmen Jones. The moment Dorothy Dandridge steps into view, hips swaying and sidelong glances, you know you’re not in Fred-and-Ginger territory anymore. There are no sparkling ballrooms with elegant dancers twirling to airy show tunes. Instead, Otto Preminger’s 1954 film stomps right past the boundaries of the typical Hollywood musical. It sets up shop in a seductive world, where fiery desires collide with suffocating jealousy. Here, the line between love and hate dissolves into smoke.

Beneath the Island Sun. Runner-Up in Chapters Challenge.
As far as my memory and hearsay combine to form a vague understanding of my history—a mismatch of facts, experiences, and something slightly similar to the stain on my favorite shirt that I don’t really know what the hell it is—I would say that this was, quite frankly, my life. The details may have been nicely airbrushed, like a social media photo, but they still at least bear some resemblance to reality.
