Vocal Verified—Motherhood
Our mothers have a huge impact on our lives. With us from the start, they give us food, shelter, and our first taste of unconditional love. They guide us through all our lives' milestones, like teaching us to walk, or driving us to our first day of school, or holding us as we cry over our first heartbreak. And the support doesn't end with the legal threshold of adulthood. Our mothers continue to help us even after our 18th birthdays—through our first tax season, DMV visits, and scheduling our own doctor appointments. If all this didn't make them invaluable, their wisdom and advice certainly is as soon as we have children of our own.

Vocal Verified—Starting your Fitness Journey
I've met people who started weightlifting because they had a serious health concern, or because they had friends who convinced them to try, or simply because they wanted a new hobby. I've met people who became dedicated lifters because they liked it more than the sport they were originally training for; I met a girl who started lifting because she liked to cosplay, and wanted her body to better match Wonder Woman's; and as the head of Curation here at Vocal, I've read the stories of dozens of people wishing to build muscle. I've seen that everyone is scared. Everyone who wants to start doesn't know where to do so, and sometimes I wish I could reach through the screen and guide every single creator with a dream, but technology's not quite that advanced yet.

Vocal Verified—Travel Guide: Asia
Maybe you're one of the lucky ones who got to honeymoon in Bali or spend a year teaching in South Korea. Maybe you moved to Japan for a few years on a whim and immersed yourself in food and language and culture; or maybe you're only familiar with the wonders of the far East from idealized, Orientalized stories, or binge watching Anthony Bourdain eat too many noodles and Jollibee (RIP).

Vocal Verified—The Worst Dates Ever
One year ago, Vocal ran a contest in partnership with O.school for creators to share their terrible, horrible, no good, very bad date stories. The result was overwhelming, and very funny. The contest saw hundreds of submissions, nearly 200 of which were published, and all of which were absolute nightmares.

Vocal Verified—For the K-Pop Fan
K-pop is less of a music genre and more of a cultural phenomenon. Being a fan is an identifier, connecting people in the way that being a fan of the same sports team brings people together. It's an insanely eager community where members absolutely dedicate themselves to supporting their artist of choice.

Vocal Verified—Decluttering and Staying Organized
Okay, I'll say it. Marie Kondo has changed my life. Or, at least, she's changed my life for the next two or three weeks until I inevitably sink back into my old, quicksand-y habits of throwing things on the floor and promising myself that I'll deal with them later, or deep-cleaning my apartment every weekend and then getting so stressed out about the state it's in by Friday night that I'm near-tears and ready to rip out my hair one strand at a time, asking myself if each individual piece sparks joy. Happy January, everyone.

Vocal Verified—Inspiring Stories from 2018
We say it at the end of every year, but this time I think we all really mean it: 2018 was the longest year in history. We all had the shared experience of trying to find joy in little things while the world collectively coped with political division, social shifts, mass tragedies, and the unexpected losses of so many of our personal heroes.

Vocal Verified—Alternative Hip Hop Playlist
This past year has been a particularly eventful one in hip hop. We were graced with the Drake/Pusha T Adonis feud, we witnessed the astronomic rise of Soundcloud rap, we reeled from Mac Miller's unexpected death, and we saw Kanye and Lil Pump emulate Flat Stanley in that one very disturbing music video. And through it all, we watched as time and again hip hop releases dominated the Top 40. Cardi B and Drake were deservedly everywhere, and to be honest I could've had all music besides ASTROWORLD and Sr3mm confiscated for the entire year and still been perfectly content.

Vocal Verified—Netflix Originals
It's no secret that Netflix has been, quite frankly, killing it with their original series and movies; shows like Stranger Things have received critical acclaim, while original movies like To All the Boys I've Loved Before became fast sensations with audiences. There's something for everyone, which is a great thing—except when you're so overwhelmed with recommendations of shows you just have to watch that you don't know where to begin. Lucky for you, our creators have seemingly seen every single show and movie that has ever been produced—seriously, do you guys do anything else?—and they're more than happy to share their thoughts. As the head of content curation here at Vocal, I'm lucky enough to see all of the reviews, dissections, and thinkpieces that our creators submit, and I've rounded up the best of their recommendations of Netflix original series and movies so that when it's time for your next binge, you don't need to look any further. Needless to say, some of these reviews contain spoilers, so click at your own risk.

Vocal Verified—Fall & Winter Fashion
They don't call it sweater weather for nothing. Once autumn rolls around, chunky knits, flannels, and denim reign supreme. There's nothing I love more than a good pair of jeans and a fat fisherman's sweater to transition into the cold seasons, and I look forward to layering up with outerwear and accessories the second I feel the first chilly gusts of the year.

Vocal Verified—Holiday Recipes
For those of us in the United States, Thanksgiving is fast approaching; and for the rest of the world, the holiday season isn't far behind. Whether you're busy prepping a turkey feast or just getting yourself into a festive mood for the coming months, it's an exciting time of year to be a food lover.

Vocal Verified—Travel Guide: Europe
Maybe you're planning a backpacking excursion through the Swiss Alps, maybe you're honeymooning through Italy, or maybe you're pretending you have the savings and the time off from work to actually do any of these things. Regardless of whether you're setting a real itinerary or just one for your wanderlust dream trip, there's something magnetic about the blue lagoons, whitewashed walls, and cobblestone streets of Europe.
