Vanessa Schanen
Bio
I am a wife, mother of two, an actress, and a budding writer. I believe life is as fun, as full, and as enjoyable as we allow it to be and feel that opening up the imagination shows us just how limitless we actually are.

Like a Phoenix
Miley heard the commotion outside and had the natural instinct to hide. She was under her bed when her father came barreling into her room. “Miley!” her father called out “we’ve gotta get outta here!” He picked her little body up and holding her tightly to his he rushed down the hallway and out the door. While she was still scared, she felt a lot better being in his arms. “Where is mommy?” Miley whispered. “She’s ok... she’ll be ok.”

From Land to Sea
The sun was setting behind the clouds and the streams of brilliant pink and pale golden light seemed to beckon Aria into movement. She stood up and took a deep breath and, on her exhale, she began her journey. One foot in front of the other. The bottoms of her feet felt heavy as they stepped onto the cool grass and when she reached the boardwalk her pace quickened and the rough wooden planks surged her along. By the time she reached the sand she was running. It was as if she was running toward something and maybe she was. She honestly didn’t know and the feeling of the ocean air and spray of the salty water with each crashing wave was calling her to go faster. So, she did. Aria didn’t stop – fully clothed she ran right in. Diving under the first wave and then swam until she couldn’t anymore.
